After all, if you weren't here to cause problems, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Perhaps you have rose colored glasses on yourself? I agree that a lot of people will try to wring something out of anything... but the door swings both ways... some people do it to the positive, some to the negative.

Basically, what it boils down to is, Camaro is in a bit of a unique situation... one that hasn't really been seen before. It's terrible that it is in this situation to begin with, but we all have a pretty good idea of why it is in this situation, and who put it there.

You also have to understand that nothing can be said....yet. Does that mean that the day the CAW issues expire that GM will hold some Camaro press conference? Probably not....

What it boils down to is, there have been more than enough pieces of information to believe that GM has a new Camaro, or at the very least, a Camaro replacement in the works. I, for one, am not going to stop myself from buying and enjoying new cars until it comes out (already bought 3 cars since Camaro went on hiatus)... but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy speculating about a new Camaro and talking about it, and feel confident in a return.

 

I think the people here are pretty harsh towards GM to the point where it seem like we have a LACK of loyalty compared to other fans of car brands. Even though GM isn't making the car I want right now I can still stand by GM because I don't exactly see other companies sticking their necks out to make a Camaro-like car either.

For example, where is Toyota's sports, sporty, muscle anything? The so-called most profitable automaker on the planet can't seem to open up the purse strings to make a Corvette competitor much less a Mustang one. Where is their answer to the 350z, RX8, EVO, STI, etc...? Oh yea they are to busy making money hand over fist to care about the last of their Celica and Supra fans. The best they can do is give Scion a dealer installed supercharger to compete with the likes of a Cobalt...maybe. I don't want GM turning into a boring Lexus, Scion, Toyota profit machine.

Ford and the Mustang isn't exactly the best example of Ford loyalty to it's fans. Ford hobbled the Mustang with the lame (at the time) FWD MOD motor instead of going head to head with Chevy with more powerful engine. It took reports of V6!! F-bods keeping up w/ the GT for them to do something. Even the DOHC Cobra motor and IRS was just ripped from the Mark VIII, so it's not like FORD was putting the tons of effort in the Mustang IMO. At least things got good in 2003, but that ended too quickly.

 

The year will be 2007 and Ford will have a 475hp Cobra out. We've all seen the styling. We know the Cobra will be the fastest car outside of the Viper and the Z06. GM will need to have pics of the 2008 Camaro by early 2006 or their fan base will disappear. This "now you see it, now you don't" bit is getting old. There will be a new Camaro but the question is: Will it arrive in time to keep the fan base? Will it have enough performance to keep buyers away from the Mudstain?

The Camaro might arrive just in time to prove its buyers have abandoned it.

 

I think they have already lost most of the people they are going to lose at this point.

Having a Cobra come out is going to have little effect on anyone who is waiting for a Camaro to come out.

If this were the case, all these Camaro fans would be buying a 2005 Mustang at this point.

Hmmmm... come to think of it... does ANYONE on this website own a 2005 Mustang?!? That in and of itself is pretty telling.

You're forgetting that most of the Camaro sales are not the general car enthusiest. I think if the Camaro does return, there will be enough time for the for hype to build up among the fan base.

 

If anyone has any doubts about what a fan base like the one on this site and others like it can do, just take a look at the dismal GTO sales. Remember the hatchet job everyone was doing on it? Now, just look at the sales of the new Mustang. Very few people put it down they way they did the GTO. The sales are through the roof. And of course there are no former Camaro-now-'05 Mustang-owners here - yet. Some have bought '03-'04 Cobras too. But each Mustang has drawbacks, it's either fast with that ugly '90s econobox styling or it's slow with the nouveau-classic 1967 styling that everyone likes. The latter will have 465hp next year, and the LS1s will finally be trumped after 13 years of supremacy.

It's kinda neat to have GM marketers come on the site and play the little "maybe we will, maybe we won't" game. But hands up everyone whose sick of it? Just build the damn car. Get some pre-publicity concepts out. I get the impression that the car is in such an early phase that it may yet be killed. That's got me thinking Cobra. Sorry but that's reality, not a fake concept.

 

Until the car is "signed off on" and approved for production, cancellation is a pen stroke away, as far as I know. One really bad quarter, sudden market shift, or any other cause and 'blink' it's snuffed out and all those rumors end up being just that.

 

It's funny, I see you bashing, but he has a supporting member tag by his name which means he has contributed money to this site and you don't, plus you have resorted to petty name calling and insults. Hell, most of the people in this forum are not supporting the site, so who are the ones abusing the site for their own purposes without contributing anything? So if I became a Supporting Member (which I just did, thanks for the reminder), I can make the same destructive and ignorant posts, essentially upsetting people? What the mods here laid down contradict this:

That is the point that I and others were trying to make, and our concerns were being laughed at. I'll leave it at that, but I think your finger pointing is in the wrong direction.

You will also notice that I don't make many posts here, it is just my style. However, almost every post I have made on this site in the past year or two has been in defense or support of this site.

Kick Z tail out has been bashing GM at every conceivable oppurtunity and some that are not, in the lounge for a while, and that makes him a troll. You enjoy your scion and don't miss your camaro, fine but don't expect a warm reception to that. Especially when you are defending your claims with reports that any and all GM cars are utter pieces of **** that break down so much they are only of use to tow truck drivers and any one who disagrees is suffering from cognitive dissonance.

As for the supporting member thing, thats lovely. No I don't have one... I'll get one shortly. But it doesen't make one posters opinion any less asinine than one who doesen't have it.

 

Destructive to what? Your feelings? Please... You make it sound like everyone in here is so fragile they're going to cry over any negative comments people might say about GM. If you can't take it, go off to happy land where everybody agrees with you.
