Re: production next generation Chevy Colorado

subjective guys... it is all subjective... We all have to agree the Aztec was one of the ugliest things on wheels but some people did buy it.

Now, as far as this Camaro.. is selling well... so that tells you something... you might not like it... but a lot of people do.

(myself included)

Re: production next generation Chevy Colorado

Funny thing is I saw an Aztek Rally and it was actually nice..the guy had it blacked out bigger rims and lowered. I was wondering WTF it was and saw the rally on it and thought no way did Pontiac do this. Well they did some of it he just made it look less ugly..what I am surprised is how much they still cost. thought they would be cheap cars to pick up for a beater..nope.

Car and Driver Blog » GM Prez: 2013 Chevrolet Colorado Pickup to Target Tacoma, Could Spin Off a GMC Version

If we get a GMC version it will be significantly differentiated from the Chevy. That's good to know.

Hopefully GMC will give it a truck like appearance.

This is good news. Hopfully the GMC version is a lot more square and tough looking.

WOAH WOAH WOAH... Hold up a sec... I HOPE this is WRONG.

It's possible Reuss brought up the Tacoma simply in reference to the Colorado being extremely capable in addition to it competing in the mid-size truck segment. Although mid-size is relative Reuss says the Colorado will be something like 90 to 95 percent of the size of a Silverado. (Full specs for the Colorado, even in overseas markets, haven't yet been released.)
Going by width, the current colorado is 85% the size of a silverado. I was hoping for it to not grow over the current colorado size at all.

Well they mentioned they're going after the Tacoma and that puts them right in line with the Tacoma's width. Powertrain efficiency will be the major factor in this segment. The current Tacoma will be around for a few more years so GM should have the upper hand with newer more efficient engines. Its going to get competitive though with rumors of a unibody diesel Dakota.

90-95% the size of a full size? Why even bother? I still think there is a market for a small truck if priced accordingly and with fuel efficiency.

I think Ruess pulled that number out of his ****, or remembered it wrong.

I don't see the new Colorado being much larger at all than the current model.

With the Ranger and Dakota on their way out, now is the perfect time for GM to reestablish itself in the compact/midsize market. Toyota sold 110,000 Tacomas last year even though they are 93% of the width of a Silverado. They even have a crew cab with a longer 6ft bed available.

It is definitely not that large. Like 96_Camaro_B4C said, it is not any larger than the current truck.

The difference between a Colorado and Silverado is about the same as the Ford Escape vs. Ford Expedition. Yes the gap is that big and yet Ford has 2 more SUV that are sized between the 2 I mentioned. If SUVs and Sedans can have many models under their full size model then I don't see why pickups can't. The demand is there for it as long as the models are kept up to date. Can you really blame people for not buying a truck like the 2011 Ranger.

Agreed.

What about a "mini-me" El Camino based off Alpha and the 130R?

Looks like the US version is still two years out. Its probably better that way since this type of truck is very utilitarian in most other markets. This will give them time to tailor it to American tastes and develop the GMC version.

Re: production next generation Chevy Colorado

WOW. That is a LONG time to completely give up the market to Toyota and Nissan. With gas going up and up I don't see this as a smart move. I wonder if this will extend Colorado production then?
