Another nice thing about the engine dress-up are the coil covers which appear to say "Powered By Ford"

Perhaps it's the cynic in me coming out here... but the fact that Ford have withheld one of the most important specifications (engine mass) leads me to think it's no real featherweight.

I can only use the BMW 4.0L V8 M3 engine as a yardstick... that engine still weighs some 50kg (110lbs) more than the LS3 even if power is 'comparable'.

Will be interesting to see the engine in all its glory.

Agreed, it is nice. But I like the cover Ford was supposed to use on the SN197 V8s. It was very TPI looking.

The later SN197 GTs with GT appearance package did end up getting that engine cover. I really like it, too.

Is it finally time to run the Gen V LSx through some cosmetic finishing school classes? Reposition the coils, get some nicer looking valve covers, do some general detailing - and maybe then you could the dump that STUPIDO 'beauty cover".

But 'beauty covers' also provide noise protection, something DI engines seem to need.

Very true. It doesn't mean that I like them though...

Too bad the car looks like this...

It looks like an entry level GT....I would think Ford could come up with a more flattering picture.

I agree, not a very flattering pic at all.

I find the new mustangs to look a lot better in person than they do in pictures.

That's a very good looking engine though.

That GT looks fine to me.

I just checked some out at the dealership the other day. Not buying new any time soon (and CERTAINLY not a 2010 Mustang when the 2011 gets 100 more hp and another gear in the gearbox, ). Red GT convertible with 5 speed auto, shaker sound, and premium wheels was $41K.

That's why I buy used.

It would be nice to see this as a crate motor. This would mike a nice update for a Panoz AIV Roadster.

This should address the one shortcoming that the magazines had with the refreshening, the engines.

That 5.0 has a nice engine cover. I still would rather see this when I pop my hood:
