Gt500: Loses weight, get's faster avoids gas guzzler tax.
Taking 100+ pounds of weight off the nose can only help.
Also, don't forget that the CTS-V has a nice gas guzzler tax, which the GT500 is finally doing away with. The Z/28 would have the same tax. I think high prices go with 500+ HP.
I agree that weight is not everything, especially when the percentage differences are in single digits, and Ford could screw up things like the electric power steering (though knowing how big a black eye this would be, I hope they did it right). As it stands at this moment without any third party reviews, the whole 2011 Mustang lineup looks pretty exceptional.

All I am saying/hoping is that if they do decide to build a LSA powered Z28, that they make it perform and "feel" like the CTS-V, if not better. That would be a winning car. A car worthy of the badge, price, etc. A car that would compete nicely with the GT500. It would be great if they made magnetic ride an option as that would produce a very nice riding, yet capable performer, and would be something to set the Camaro apart from the GT500.
No doubt Fords looks to have done a great job with the 2011 Mustang lineup. It will be interesting to see how the 2011 GT performs because as it stands on paper, I would still pick a used 07-09' GT500 over the new GT. Partly because of looks, cost, power potential, rarity, etc. I just wish I could get the 10' interior in the 07-09' exterior. Oh well.
Agreed, you don't see me arguing a Z28 would be $40k. Aint gonna happen.

I would also be one of the few on here who would rather have a GT500 than a base Vette.
To me, the new one looks chunkier and sort of droopy. I don't DISLIKE it, at all, but I definitely prefer the leaner, sharper look of the '05-'09 from most angles.
The '05-'09 looks good on 17s and hot on 18s, and even the 16s on the V6 cars look pretty good. Like the new Camaro, the 2010 Mustang seems to almost need the bigger wheels to look right.
JMHO, of course. I've drooled over my share of 2010s at the local dealership too...

Reading comprehension, Bob.
Step 1 : I write low 40s
Step 2 : I write could easily sell not easily make money
Step 3 : Silver writes could easily make money by selling at same price as GT500, which is not low 40s but mid 50s.
See how easy it is to understand people when you read what they wrote first?

Have you priced one lately!?! It can get there real quick.
'11 GT500 Coupe (including Destination & Delivery) MSRP = $49,495.
'11 GT500 Convertible (including Destination & Delivery) MSRP = $54,495.
Optional equipment....
$2,340 = Electronics Package
$3,495 = SVT Performance Package
$1,295 = Shaker 1000 Audio System
$1,995 = Glass Roof
$ 375 = Shelby Car Cover
SVT PERFORMANCE PACKAGE – (67F)
• Includes:
— 3.73 Limited Slip Rear Axle
— Unique 19'x9.5"(F) 20"x10"(R) Painted Forged
Aluminum Wheel
— P265/40ZR19(F) P285/35ZR20(R) Tires
— Unique Front and Rear Springs
— Unique Rear Shocks
— Unique Gear Shift ****
— Unique Shelby Stripes
— Unique Side Stripes
— Spoiler with Unique Gurney Flap
The GT500 is priced right with the Corvette now and a few options put you at base M3 cost. Loaded up, its almost at base CTS-V price.
Now perhaps the lighterweight, better balance, stickier tires (all we will see compared at first will be SVT optioned cars) and slight bump in power means it will be deserving of its price. I think it will, but time will tell.

YUP.
I stand by what I wrote. The GT500 is a mid 50s car.
Oh goodie! I get edumacated by a relly inteligent person!
Yup yu did. And I red it.
Yup you did, and no you didn't. However, you'll notice that I quoted another person in that say post that did indeed say "make money", and then replied to both of you in the same sentence.
Things that make you go "duh".
See above.
Also, the car starts at $49.9k. It can be optioned into the mid-high 50s.
You know what? I can very easily option a Camaro SS into the low 40s. Does that make it a $40k car?
It must indeed, thus I am able to stand by the statement I'm about to make, using your line of reasoning: The Camaro SS is a $40k car. Further, Chevy could easily add a blown LSA-type motor to the Camaro SS and keep it at roughly the same price (low 40's.....your metric)
What a deal!
Indeed. Go take a peek in that mirror my friend.
And then have a nice day.

Make it four. I love the sequential taillights.
I could stand to have a little more glass area, but when I rented a Mustang back in 2006, I didn't notice it much, once I drove for a while.
But then I liked (and still do) the '98-'02 Camaro and the '04 GTO too....
[ don't worry, I'd still go for an '05-'06 GTO over the '04 to get the LS2 ]
