IZ28,
All that stuff that I posted. All of that came right out of a magazine. High Performance Pontiac to be exact. Re-read the post for exact details.
The only part that was mine was the very end. Where I said I would sell the car. Why is that "complete stupidity"?
I've worked in the auto repair buisiness all my life, I have 2 engineering degrees, I work for one of the Big 3 currently. I have amassed a lot of knowledge about cars in my life. I know what's good and what's bad.
I would not own a 3rd gen F-body.
I do not see the supidity in that at all. Nor was it BS, as you call it.
And Branden,
"Is the 3rd gen a great car?
They are the best lawn ornaments for a trailor that money can buy."
That is SOOO funny. I was LMAO. Good one.
And true.
I do all my roadtests thru rural areas. You wouldn't believe the number of 3rd gens that are parked on the lawns of trailers and old dilapitated houses out there.
All rusted out, different colors, primered up, parts missing, glass missing.
I have yet to see a 4th gen in that same setting.

LOL Z284!!
We are talking to no1 it seems. I could care less what HPP had to say. Thirds got some great reviews and some not so great just like every car. But I know you guys will not understand that.
Wanna read some 4th Gen reviews LOL?? If there was any that is....
And guess what, I have seen messed up 4ths. Imagine that.

And to the other dude, if you work for 1 of the 3 and you are just taking what some1 has told you about Thirds and have made that what you think about them, thats moronic. They're alot better cars than some give credit for. People never want to compare the nice and taken care of cars, instead they wanna compare a Third that has been driven like crazy and never had an oil change or something like that.

I see the 4th gen has an evolution of the 3rd gen...with that in mind there is no way a 3rd gen is better. I almost wonder if the build quality on my 79 Firebird wasn't better than the 3rd gen.
This whole converstion IMO is almost laughable. I mean hell if I owned a 3rd gen I would defend it too...I wouldnt wanna realize what a POS it can be. Find me an IROC Z with the factory paint and no oxideation and we will talk.

Jesus this post has turned rediculus. Here is what I think on the matter. I have owned 1 3rd gen and 2 4th gens and my girlfriend currently has a 3rd gen Formula. Also, just about every friend I have has a 3rd or 4th gen car. The 4th gen is a better car, I think there is no question, but you have to take it in perspective. No car from 10 years ago is as good or better than that same car today, it's called progress. Does that mean the old ones are junk, hell no! I love 3rd gens and I personnally have had great experience with them. A 3rd gen can be as much as twenty years old and after that kind of time, there are going to be some ratty ones, and the same thing will be said for the 4th gens. I do think they might not be as "ratty" as a whole because they were better to start with. I could go on forever but I will just say that I love both generations of F-bodies(all for that matter) and to say that the 3rds are just plain junk is wrong.

How come every thread IZ28 posts in turns into a trainwreck?

I would just like to say that if I offended any 4thgenners or embarrassed any 3rdgen owners then I apologize.I wasn't even going to comment on any of the 3rdgen\4thgen threads but the ignorance towards 3rdgens,by a select few, provoked my attack on 4thgens.Mainly my biggest grief was with the 4thgen Camaro. The exterior looks and the ability/affordability to work/mod on them was my beef with them.I agree that the later 4thgens are progressively superior in power and brakes to the 3rdgen.I do admit that I brought up some of my comments based on what 4thgens owners themselves complained about their cars and not just my own experience. This is suppose to be a Camaro enthusiast board not a particular generation forum.Alot of the attitude from us 3rdgenners were brought on by the constant bashing from some of the 4thgenners which is really uncalled for and truly ignorant.I hope what I just said made some sense to everyone,so again I apologize.

I agree with Sneaky Neil. Both the 3rd and 4th gens are pretty cool in my book. I got my 99 in 1999 and then my 90 in 2001. Why? I had wanted a Z28 for many years but couldn't afford the insurance. Even after I got my Formula, I was still drawn to the timeless styling of the 3rd gen Camaros! Now I am thankful to have the best of both worlds. 3rd gens shine in their classic styling, engine access and simple, inexpensive mod-ability. 4th gens shine in creature comforts, cockpit feel and more sophisticated engine and suspension design. It's all good from here! Count your blessings FBody owners!

All f-body generations have been held one thing in common. They all have been created with timeless designs. They all look good and everyone has their favorites, but is it really worth arguing about? I have a 78 Formula and an 02 Firebird. My 78 looks great, but like a previous post mentioned the keyword here is progress and that is why my 02 outshines my 78 in most areas. I think we can all agree that we hope the next gen will continue with that progress and be better then the last. So even though I like all f-body gens (and have owned all but the first gen), I think everyone here could agree that the 4th gens really are better cars overall, but that does not make any previous gen junk. By the way 90-92 third gens had grealty improved build quality over the 82-89 models...especially in chasis rigidity.
