They guy's shop is actually right down the road from me. If anything happens to the car, I'll just take it to him to fix

Hey Bralgar, good info! I'll ask him about this. I have heard him mention how this paint is reduced more than normal so I *think* he may already be doing that.

Also, this guy has painted yellow before... several times I believe. He originally did expect it to take more paint (like 5 coats or so) but didn't expect it to take 5 gallons. He has also been doing this for about 30 years. Dupont has sent him all around the US going to different "schools" and such to keep him up on what's going on I guess.

I'll ask him about this different mixing your are talking about to see what's up

Thanks!

No, what I was saying is it gets reduced 50%less than normal not reduced more. It get's 50% more actual paint per gallon that way.

Hey Guys!

Hood is painted Lookin pretty good! These pictures are from yesterday. Looks like I'll be getting the car back TOMORROW! They have some stuff left to put back on the car and some other little items. I was there this afternoon and they were wet sanding the hood. It is looking pretty good! There are some pictures here of the hood before wet sanding

With some luck, I'll get the car back tomorrow! Very cool

Hey Brent, first off - even though I am not a fan of yellow.....the car turned out killer, very nice. Next, off subject, what is that box on the R side of your intake?? It has red, brown and blue wires attached to it. Just wondering.

I'm not a big fan of yellow either but I like this particular yellow and I wanted to do something a little differe too

As for that box... it is called a Volt Blaster. What it does is at anything greater than around 93% throttle position it, you could say, over-rides the voltage regulator in the alternator and causes the alternator to put out about 14.5 volts. It'll put out this much voltage at wide open throttle where as typically your voltage drops to around 12 at wide open throttle. The major benefit here is that the extra ~2.5 volts greatly increases the capacity of your fuel pump (because it spins it faster at the higher voltage). So, if you are borderline on your fuel (as I am with 450 hp and a stock fuel system!) it'll help you out and prevent you from running lean. I also have one of these on my supercharged 94Z (install is better because I did it myself on that car. ) which has a fuel management system. I noticed an increase of 10 psig fuel pressure with just the addition of the Volt Blaster. On cars without a fuel management system you'll see no increase in fuel pressure because your regulator will just open further to dump the extra fuel back to the tank to maintain its normal pressure setting. However, if you are running on the edge of your fuel system and your fuel pressure drops to say 30 or 35 psig at WOT, chances are good with the addition of this gizmo you'll get your fuel pressure back up to 45 or so psig at WOT. A supposed side benefit of this Volt Blaster is that it helps your ignition system. I don't know about that but I do know it works well for the fuel system Also, both the point at which it kicks in (93% TPP on my car) and the voltage it goes to (about 14.5 volts on my car) are adjustable. If you want it to kick in at 80% TPP you can adjust it to that and if you want it to go to only 14 volts, you can adjust that too.

LOL! Yeah, I've been thinking I've been going to get it back each day this week but doing all the "little" finishing stuff is taking time. I talked to them about 30 minutes ago and they were actively working on it and making sure all the panels are lined up right, painting the rockers underneath, and doing some minor touch up stuff. They see no reason why they can't "really" finish tomorrow and give it back when I get off work late in the afternoon!

If that's the case, I'll have some pics this weekend. WOOHOO!
