Guess so. What do you suppose 100 pounds of options consists of?

Yes, I could have given it a different subject, but wanting someone to get specific is hardly malicious.
I still think singling someone out of some thousands of members, no mater how vocal...has something, some hidden agenda behind it. But - fair enough, on all points above.

The general impression I get is that people in the 5th gen forum don't want people to be critical of things we're not sure about. To pick one recent example, there's a big difference between saying, "The 5th gen is hideous from the back," and "The angle of that photo isn't very flattering to the rear of the car. I hope it looks better in person." Don't jump to conclusions, and before you form your final opinion. I don't think that's unreasonable at all.
Agreed. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I think people need to be ready to have opinions challenged (I am), especially if such opinions are unusual for the community they are expressed in. If some don't like that... maybe don't post?

Jason, if you're still here... as a token of my good intent, would you mind editing the name of the thread to "So, how much do you think the 5th gen will weigh?"
I agree with the notion of changing the title. I think people are over-reacting a little to the focus on Z284ever. Charlie, no disrespect is meant by my posts herein - but the point is, you are generally known here to be more animated about 5gen curb weight than just about anyone else here... it's clear you are an expert in Camaro history... and it's clear you have rapport with various other experts. So it's natural (IMHO) for some to want to know your opinion. I think what sets some off is when people jump to conclusions about the weight and its implications, without knowing the rest of the facts. Maybe we should all also give our opinions about what we think the car's dimensions will be? For example, I believe it's going to be a lot narrower than many expect. That is why I think the car can still hit aggressive weight targets but also include the modern gadgets like HUD (rumored), stability control and numerous airbags for example.

The MotorTrend article lists the base price as $29,995 and the as-tested price at $32,745. They mention optional leather seats and sunroof in the article.

As far as I can tell, Pontiac.com doesn't yet let you build and price a G8. I'm on a crippled version of the internet here at work (WebSense ), so maybe somebody else would have more luck.

I suspect that their G8 had a "premium package" that included leather and a handful of other things, and nothing more. If we can confirm that, it'll be interesting to see that such a package adds ~100 pounds to the car!

That I do know. For a number of reasons, I wouldn't want to state what the weight goal is/was. If that pisses people off, oh well. The "weight goal" BTW, was something I was satisfied with and hoping would become reality. More than one person warned me early on that the weight goal would be exceeded - maybe by alot.

Regardless - from the most optimistic to the most pessimistic numbers - they have all gone up.

Anyway, the car is what it is. I'm just hoping I'll like what I see when it's released.

Alright, how about this? Can you say how much over the goal you believe the car is going to be?

He's messin' with you, JR. I appreciate anyone who tries to fight for truth and justice online, but you can't win this one. I have yet to see a message board on any topic that didn't have a resident pessimist who somehow miraculously knows a lot but can't share. Sadly, this medium opens the door to such things.

On topic, I voted based on nothing more than a guess. Check it. It's ridiculous, but evidently just as valid as anyone else.

Best case: +100 lbs

Worst case: +600 lbs

Like I said, it is what it is. We'll know the official weight soon enough.

Well I can certainly respect that position, even if I don't agree. It doesn't make me angry if you don't want to post more info. Perhaps you do have insights from a GM'er, and it makes sense to be discreet, if so. I guess we will just have to wait and see. It's good news to me, you are apparently open to that.

Okay, I think this is done now that we landed on the same page. I had to edit out some pretty useless remarks at the end here anyway that didn't make things any better.

If anyone wants to start a new poll without the friction, feel free.

We'll all find out what the weight is soon enough, anyway. Let's all put our party hats back on.
