So, how much do you think the 5th gen will weigh?

Just how much do you think the 5th gen (base V8 M6, mfr official curb weight) is going to weigh?

Let's hear a number. Come on, out with it.

Well, you know I won't give specific numbers if they were shared with me in confidence.

Suffice it to say that I have heard a range of numbers.

On the lighter end, less than a GTO. On the scary end, all the way up to the Challenger's weight class.

3825 for the A6 V8. With a heavier trans and side curtain air bags, it will probably weigh more than an 06 A4 GTO.

That is the lamest cop-out ever. I'm not asking me to tell you what's been shared in confidence.

I'm asking you to guess at the weight. How much do you really think it's going to weigh?

Jeez. What you just said is dumb. How can I just impartially "guess" when I've heard actual numbers?

I get the impression that your motivation for this thread is something other than just discussing weight.

Bigger than a breadbox? Smaller than a Humvee?

This thread is about weight, nothing more. We all know it's your favorite topic, so let's stay focused. I made this thread because you infer that you know (or at least have a good idea) how much the car is going to weigh, but you never get specific.

Of course; I'd never expect you to betray information you were given in confidence. However, I'm having trouble figuring out why, if you've been given a specific number, you would say something like this:

Which is it? A specific number, or a range?

And then, after that mumbo-jumbo about confidence, you come out and tell us the range. Apparently you're not all that concerned about violating the confidence of your source.

A 2006 GTO tipped the scales at 3725lbs. I'd be quite happy with a Camaro lighter than that, and I think you would too. There's obviously still some room for improvement, but "lighter than a GTO" certainly doesn't warrant all of the bitching and moaning you're known for. I guess you just like to complain.

Yep, a 4140lb Camaro would indeed be scary. However, since we now know that the G8 GT weighs 3946lbs, can't we reasonably assume that a Camaro (built on the same platform and using a similarly-powerful drivetrain) will weigh something less than that?

Do you know for sure what it will weigh? Either you do or you don't. If you know within a couple pounds, I'd say you know. If you have a 400lb range, you don't know.

I don't think you will get the black Suburbans in your driveway for saying "Yes, I know how much it will weigh," or "No, I don't know. I'm guessing ____lbs." I'm not trying to be rude. I just want to know if you are guessing that it will be heavy (in the vicinity of 4,000lb) or know that it will be heavy. That's all.

I'm going to guess that the Camaro will not exceed those bridge gross tonnage limits you see a few feet before the bridge begins. I will even guess there will be no need to pay more than any other passenger car going through a toll booth because of its weight.
