Laugh at the Challenger
Hello LS1!!!!
**** you have that right! I have went down with a HEMI and a LANCER while being in an LS1. Hemi Dodge engines perform better on a roll at higher revolutions........ One of My TA performs the same way on a Roll... while my other WS6 TA can take a Crotch Rocket off the line and not on a roll.
That's my favorite measurement.... if you can beat or keep up with Bike, you have a very decent ride.

a charger that typically traps 108 in the 1/4, is going to trap about 85 in the 1/8th. and when an fbody/mustang traps 108 in the 1/4, guess what? it'll trap about 85 in the 1/8th. Same acceleration rate. They may have poor low end affecting 60', though it does have pretty decent gearing but with an open diff, once rolling DOES NOT accelerate any better than any other similar trapping car. and yes i have driven one, and butt dyno's dont mean anything.
just going to the chargerforums real quick, here's a run from BruteSRT
60'= 1.945
330'= 5.410
1/8= 8.250
MPH= 86.81
1000'= 10.696
1/4= 12.766
MPH= 109.12
and here's Mike Comp T/A #57 from the chargerforums:

now check out some a timeslip from slow98svt (03 Cobra) at svtperformance:
60'.....1.942
1/8.....8.385
mph...85.80
1/4....12.90
mph...108.72
and here's another 03 cobra (it doenst make a big difference what car i use, the avg car will trap about 78-79% of their 1/4 trap in the 1/8th.)
60'.....1.878
1/8.....7.83
mph...89.64
1/4....12.009
mph...114.00

If your WS6 is anywhere near stock, what you are calling "taking a crotch rocket off the line" means you might jump him for the first 30-60 feet because he's feathering the clutch (to prevent his staring at the stars).
After that 30-60 ft., when he's got the clutch out all the way in first, and unless +140mph traps are on your timeslips, it's gonna get ugly...
From a roll... well... unless you told him you were racing, he probably wouldn't know it.
Because the acceleration curve has flattened considerably by the time the 1/4 mile is coming up, two cars trapping 108mph are going to behave very similarly up there.
okay, guess I'm wrong. I've actually had this argument with SRT8 owners. I thought my Trans Am would be a good match for one and was told repeatedly that the LS1 always get's the jump and the SRT walks it down. Since I have never raced against one I took thier word for it (from several SRT drivers). And having driven one, the Butt dyno sure hints that it is feasible. But I do believe the figures I'm seeing. That being said I REALLY want to race an SRT now.
Last night I attended the VIP opening of the Jax International Car Show. Also attending was the Challenger. (sadly, no Camaro) Oh, and that new monstrocity from Nissan was there. (that car is some kind of Fugly, fast or not. It looks like a Power Ranger designed it)
I had not seen the Challenger in person before. And this was a production model in Silver. First of all, the color does NOTHING for this car. I'm NOT a fan of silver cars and I feel the color is being shoved down our throats. Anyone ever really notice how many silver cars are surrounding you at any given moment when you are in traffic? And don't get me started on "Blah" colored cars. (that putrid metal tans colors).
Anyway I digress. The Challenger even in silver, was stunning. It's NO Camaro, but stunning just the same. Dodge did a fantastic job with the car. Strangley, all the windows were very darkly tinted (including the windshield). For some reason, they didn't want to showcase the interior. The car was roped off so you couldn't get any closer than 1 foot away. I took pictures and will post them later. If the Camaro were not coming back, I would soooo be getting a Challenger. But Camaros are my first love.

Here's the Challenger and the Nissan Power Ranger Mobile from last night.

And do I need to point out that both of these cars are friggin SILVER?!!! Is there a LAW that says all new cars have to be silver?? I'm so sick of silver and BLAH colored cars I could vomit.

....that Blue Charger SRT-8 in the background is sweet looking .
I dunno, I kinda like the GT-R. At least Nissan is bringing something to the table! Competition is good for everybody.I will be getting a Camaro 'vert...but, aside from the odd looking front end not matching the lines of the rear end...the GT-R is okay looking. (Hey, it's AWD and puts some pretty great #'s up). The price doesn't justify it though. Definitely not worth it for the $$.
