No problem. It all comes down to opinions anyways. The guy who posted before you seems to think the LS1 and the new Hemi are more alike at least I think thats what he means..Lol.. No one knows for sure what dodge did or did not do in the R&D process except dodge themselves. Regardless both are awesome powerplants.

When i look at the hemi and LS1, i see several similarities:
- 4 bolt cylinder heads
- deep skirted, cross bolted block
- lifters captive in the block, must remove heads to change them

None of those features are found on either the original hemi or SBC. I can see how some of the posters in this thread could have missed them, i mean, you really have to try hard to see those difference with one being made of aluminum and the other iron and all...

Nothing special about those features, Ford could have laid claim to the 4 head bolts and captive lifters with the 302, and a deep skirted block has been around with Chrysler (among others) since the 50's. I'd say GM was late to the game.
