Camaro in public
I'm going to go against the grain here and say that the Door handles are fine as long as they are NOT body color. Give me a chrome finish on them to make them pop, and I think they'll look fine.
Paint them body color and they will look out of place, precisely because they don't blend well, so the monochrome approach would be like you're trying to hide something that doesn't hide well. Offset them with chrome and you're saying they don't blend because we didn't want them to blend.

Perhaps.
But then you have the HHR. The LS has satin (silver painted) handles, the LT gets chrome, and the new SS gets body color.
Chrome would have looked like garbage on the 3rd or 4th gen just as it would look like garbage on a Corvette from 1982-now. But, given the 5th gen's retro-inspired proportions and shape, I think a limited number of chrome accents would be perfectly acceptable.
Chrome handles would play well off of a chrome/polished gas cap and polished/chrome wheels.

Not me, man. Body color all the way. I will produce SmoothLocks specifically for the next Camaro, no question about it.
That is, if I don't have something that fits it already:

I am not thrilled about the door handles, either...but they could be worse I suppose. I'll bet once the real deal is visible, they won't look so bad.

Well, at least its something worth arguing about that can actually be changed between now and Sept of next year.
..AND the distance from the rear wheel to the door is longer. They must have shifted the doors and possibly the cabin space forward.
If so, that's a HUGE change, but probably not noticeable to most people. They probably had to do it for weight distribution, or perhaps side crash performance (put a little more material to absorb energy near the middle of the car) or for rear impact collision performance. And I suppose for visibility sake over the front hood, that setup would be better.

This place is getting downright silly. We have continuous useless threads on topics like weight because there hasn't been any "new" news. We finally get some photos of mules in public down under, and the topic quickly turns to complaints about the door handles. On a mule? Seriously!?!
I can see it now. Photos of the production Camaro will get leaked and you guys will find something else to complain about.
Sheesh!

Will that sway me from buying a camaro, hell no! Overall, the car looks great, even with camo, but I need something to bitch about, don't I?

The weight topics do get old, I mean, what can you say until the car is on a scale, right? But with the door handles, I have something visual that I can see and bitch about if I don't like it. I don't understand the complaints about things we can't see. BUT I can understand if people don't like something they can see.
Also, I'll toss in that it looks like the B-pillar won't be noticable, great job GM

I'd guess it is for rear legroom, because if you got to see the Silver car up front you'll wonder if they ever knew that people complained about the legroom in 3rd/4th gen cars.
Sorry bud, I normally agree with you, but I also believe that GM does look for feedback on things like this, and I really don't like the door handles either. I kinda hate them. They look fine on the Malibu, but not on the camaro. A sports car should be smooth and flush.
I understand that this car is no Production at all.. and that anything we see can change at any moment... I do understand that... but there no reason to hold back oppinion on what we see.. so GM gets an idea of what we are liking and what we aren't. That way.. if they want to change it.. or can.. they will. If we all just sit here and say: "GREAT JOB GM EVERYTHING IS GOOD" then they would not change anything.
There is a very true saying in spanish.. that goes: "Bebe que no llora... no mama" meaning a baby that doesn't cry don't get to drink milk. So.. everyone.... LLOREN for what you want changed.. now is the time.

the problem with the door handles is that they just dont flow with the body lines. a thirdgen camaro door handle would be alot better. I think if they just took the idea they already ahve and give it sharper edges and a more "boxy" design it would flow alot better.
