A plain K&N filter doesn't add any hp although K&N claims it does. The air filters themselves are just good because the are reusable, along with the filters they offer whole intake systems.

I just did a search though and it looks like the FIPK is for the 3.4l (93-95 Camaro V6 engine).

click here- Ligenfelter CAI for 3.8s

Thumbs down whisper lids are junk!!!!

A aftermarket lid comes with a hose to by pass the air silencer and has a place on the lid to insert the sensor. I don't know if SLP makes a lid for the 3800, I would go with a whisper lid.
Whisper lids are junk between me and my best friend we been through 3 they are made of thin cheap plastic that will not hold up and sometimes get broke on installation I would not reccomend my worst enemy to use that junk!!!!!

Must be bad luck or something. I have one on the V6 camaro and SS with no problems, in fact I push and leaned on it a lot while installing the headers without it cracking.

Actually you can install ANY CAI on 96-97 V6 models designed for LT1. You just need to get 1LE or even used and cheap stock LT1 elbow. It can be easilly adapted to fit this models. Just be sure to get this elbow from rubber-like material. I just installed Moroso CAI from LT1 on '96 V6 bird and it fits/looks/works great. I used my old stock LT1 elbow from '97 T/A. I can post a pics if someone interested.

Anyone know how much it would cost to buy a full borla exhaust system(headers all the way to the muffler) would cost and their opinions of putting it on my 96?

Re: What Intake, Headers, Exhaust, etc...?

I just purchased a 2001 v6 3.8, and I wanted to put a CAI, and I wanted to know which was better SLP or K&N? How hp will I actually gain from them, cause I know that the site says like 26 hp for K&N, and 20 hp for SLP. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on either of these. SLP is like half the price of the K&N. Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: What Intake, Headers, Exhaust, etc...?

I have a 99 3.8 camaro and i got the SLP cai, K&N filter and wisper lid all for around $220 shipped. As for gains I noticed more of a gain at higher RPMs. Im not familar with the K&N cai but the SLP is probably the best bang for you buck.

No way will you see that much gain from those intakes alone. There is minimal difference between the two...just the looks, brand and price. My advice: If you have no preference on the look, go with the cheaper of the two.

Re: What Intake, Headers, Exhaust, etc...?

What are some good headers I can get for my 3rd gen? I want to get some more power into this engine without heavy modifications and I know that a good intake and good exhaust system is a good starter power adder. Also, it is possible to change out the headers in this car without a lift? I have ramps that get the front off the ground (used them to fix a loose bolt in the oil pan). Thanks for the help.
