I don't see why you must have the SLP lid instead of the whiper lid made for the 3800. The whisper lid is off centered to go to the turned throttle body of the 3.8l which is probably better for your car then the centered outlet. PLus it comes with the hose to by pass the air silencer and has a spot for the air sensor. You'd be way better off with a whisper or any other lid made for the 3800. If you must have the SLP air lid you could buy hose like that which is used for exhaust on a dryer to by pass the air silencer and the lid comes with a hole for the air sensor.

i just dont like the way the whisper lid looked online compaired to the slp one. i think it looks cheap, maybe its just online, and i dont like the idea of that accordian dryer lookin hose, id rather pipe or silicon. any how, thanks for your input. one more thing, i saw that you had posted that people are gettin the ls1 take off mufflers. how do they sound on the cars. i cant get a flowmaster becasue of the sound. in the new bylaws in my neighbprhood the dont want loud exhasust, thats my fault because of my last car, a police caprice that had no mufflers. but how much will it change the sound.

thanks

frank

I haven't personally heard any of the LS1 take off exhausts, but you could try searching for a sound clip. I put a dynomax on my 3.8, it is not as loud but has a deeper tone then a flowmaster.

i bought the pacesetter headers from ammperformance...they were almost to pretty to put on when i got them...i didnt spend much time looking at them...i just put them on asap...come to find out the left header was f..ked up...on the inside of the headers where the three pipes meet there was no weld...so i had to weld the P.O.S myself...i figured i would spend too much time and money mailing them back so i did it myself...now that they are back on the sound killer with my new cam...they look good too... could be a one time flaw...or it could be a shady company who knows???

Are those true duals? Either way yes headers would help gain you some hp. I don't know if they would help it sound better. RKsport makes headers for the 3.4l. http://rksport.com/prod_detail.php?p...35&view=detail Notice they say "FOR OFF ROAD USE" thats means they aren't legal, but if thats true duals you have getting some off road only exhaust components installed must not be a problem.

Check the for sale forum or try posting in the parts wanted forum. You could get SS take off exhaust for $100 from SLP. http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...il?v=1&pid=778

Is a Lingenfelter SuperTube Cold Air Induction a good air induction product or is it crap, and not worth buying? Also what is the best exhaust system for a 96 v6 camaro but for not a lot of money?

new exaust, manifold or headers.

ok im new and ive got an 85 v6 2.8

Im looking to get completly new exaust for it,but the thing is my manifold bolts are busted, inside of the exaust manifold(work in progress) so i have a couple of questions.

1. what would be a good set of exaust to give me better HP and a nice sound, i know flowmaster would work fine, but i wanna keep my options open.

2.Do they even make headers for v6 engines???

3.should I get the bolts pulled and just get a new manifold? Or have them pull the bolts and mani fold and get the headers, if there are any???

any input would be helpfull.

Thanks.
