3.4 horsepower increase
Re: 3.4 horsepower increase
I noticed a big difference when I swiss-cheesed the bottom of the stock air cleaner box on my LS1- Since then I have gone a step further, and added a true CAI.
+1 on the gears, I swapped out the 2.73 fuel economy gears my Z28 came with (along with the steel driveshaft that comes with those gears) for a 3.42 rear out of a manual F-body that had been wrecked. I would have liked to go even deeper, I was running 4.10's in my LT1-powered Caprice, and that was a hoot to drive. Would chirp third gear at about 75 MPH. If you change your axle, you will need to reprogram your PCM.

Re: 3.4 horsepower increase
I have done the follwing and from stock I felt a big difference.
K&N CAI ($289.99)
Pacestter 3.4L full cat-back ($400.00 installed)
J.E.T underdrive pulley ($69)
Stock LT1 one piece driveshaft ($10)
J.E.T. 160* thermostat ($15)
I used my 93 3.4 auto as an everyday driver as well. The car was a real turd stock..this woke it up.

Re: 3.4 horsepower increase
“93 LT1” hasn’t signed into this site since 2010.
All I can add is the fact the the driveshafts for the LT1 are identical for all years 1993-1997. Most of them are steel. A few were made out of aluminum for the cars with the 1LE option. But length and front and rear yokes are all identical.
Can’t help you on the catback.
