Best way to make more power?

I have a stock lt1 from my 93 camaro. Only thing done to it is K&N air filter.
The car is going bracket race car.

Looking to make some nice power using the lt1. Currently was thinking about a catback exhaust system.

What else could I do to add more power? For relatively cheap, as I'm a college student and don't have a ton of money right now

aside from the cold air intake, a catback will make a noticeable difference(sounds better too haha), new headers would help too. Those are your basic bolt on's. if your budget is bigger a cam would definitely not hurt. A dyno-tune would probably help you make some gains after you do all the mods you want.

(pm me when you get a sec, im from the chicagoland area and ive got a 93 z too)

To compliment the cold air intake, do the throttle body bypass of the coolant lines. Basically free. Throw some full roller rockers on too.

What transmission A4 or M6 ? what gear ratio came stock in your car?
I have found nothing is cheap ... especially if you have to pay an installation fee

Best bang for the buck ........headers , electronic exhaust cut out , gears , 125 shot

Transmission is an A4. As for the stock ratios, I am not sure.

For full roller rockers, which would I need? I hear 1.6x are good. But would they provide me more power? and would stock springs work?

Re: Best way to make more power?

If I had it to do all over again I would do the cam , 1.6rr & springs at the same time
but the answer to your question is YES you need to change the springs....
In my opinion the best bang for the buck is what I mentioned earlier

Check the service parts tag in the glove box or the drivers door. You will see either "GU2" (= 2.73:1) or "GU5" (=3.23:1) for your rear axle gears. That would be the gears it had when it left the factory. No guarantee that someone hasn't changed the ratio in the past 20 years.
