Street RACING!!!!
Re: Street RACING!!!!
See now this is where I have to jump in and say that this clearly shows the distinction between "street Racers" and the so-called non existant "Safe Street Racers"
I would definatly say that the fwe street races I have been in were WAY safer than some of the above posts.
I raced on a level, 1/2mile plus straightaway. No traffic at all, happened to catch redlights iwth someone who wanted to go. There are NO side streets. Its not a residential area. No one was in the car with me.
I wont race somsone with somebody else in their car (Inless its a rice boy with a girl, then you have to embarress them) or in mine.
I would for sure say what I do is WAY safer. Im not trying to be Vin Diesel, but I sure as hell see nothing THAT unsafe about blasting through first and second gear in the situations I have.

Lord knows there is no way that you ALWAYS go to the drag strip to race..
We've all done some amount of street racing or stoplight dragging, or Highway racing...
Re: Street RACING!!!!
indirocz28 ~ My girl friend got it for me
. I am 99.9% positive she got it from Jegs for right around $200. And I have to say it was worth every penny. Its without a doubt, the best feeling shifter I have ever used, on any car. And it has adjustable stops so arent stressing the shift forks and stuff as bad when you shift it hard. Its awesome and is for sure worth the money. Now I oculdnt imagine driving it without it.

you know what i was just thinking- The Thread starter probably comes in here and reads all of our posts and then just laughs his *** off seeing what he started and is thinking that we are all morons or something..
Re: Street RACING!!!!
Probably, but it was a fun thread.
In all honestly, what ruined street racing was TFTF, 2F2F, and MTV's Im a real life street racer.
This made all these losers with Integras, Civics, and Accords think their cars could be fast with bolt ons. They see it on TV and they want to do it. Then they wreck, and hurt someone in the process.
When you hear about people getting hurt street racing, 99% of the time it is rice.

Now it's just a toy I take to the track which is why I'm building it to run mid 10's. That way I can race at the track but not need a NHRA license, window net, parachute, ect.

But I will concede this much. I definately enjoy getting on the 590 expressway from my house. The entrance ramp is long, straight and it's a clear view of the oncoming cars. If it's heavy traffic I just accelerate and merge normally. But if no one is even close then I slow down to 25 and punch it
What a rush just going 25-75
But that's only getting on the express way and I'm not in a contest with any other cars. And I never see triple digits unless I'm at the track. But again, this is from a 36 year old with three kids and a career that could be in jeapordy if I were to lose my license.
And I agree. The jerk who started this thread and never replied is probably just laughing his butt off. But the hell with him and I still enjoy debates even when they go on as long as this one has.

Why would you say that? I live close enough to my track and run it 1-2 Friday nights a month. Inbetween race nights I rarely drive it since I work so much and need a van to haul supplies around in. I have had my share of people reving at me but I am proud to say I never took the bait. But with old age comes maturity and a greater sense of responsibity. Would I have raced this car on the street if I was 18? Probably (I can be honest). But the fact is I had SLOOOOW economy cars from 16-33 so the temptation to race a 4 CYL Cavalier was just not present
I havn't. A lot of people who are older and have track only cars definately havn't. Unless maybe they were racing the trucks towing the cars
