Re: Street RACING!!!!

I have a coworker who likes to street race. I only like to drag race at the local 1/4 mile track. His license is in serious danger of going bye-bye. My driving record is clean as a whistle. His car insurance rates are through the roof. I have insurance companies fighting to give me a better rate.

Yes the life of a street racer is a glamorous one. The life of a track racer is a boring one.

All things considered, I'd rather be boring.

And I also like cheese.

Mozzarella and nacho are my favorites.

I also like to put jalopenos on just about everything.

I also like that frito's jalopenao cheese dip, very good with chips.

If we had a drag strip here I would definently use it instead, but we don't.

I think that sucks. I have been very fortunate in that regard. I used to live in Joliet, IL which was 5 minutes from Rt 66 Speedway. I now live in Rochester, NY and live only 20 minutes away from New York International Raceway Park. States should make it easier to open more tracks (tax breaks and such) if they really want to give people a solid alternative to street racing.

Personally I could really care less about the kids racing at 2AM out in the middle of nowhere. It's the ones who race on the highway and zoom past me at 100+ mph at 7PM on a Saturday night that makes me want to kill them. I've almost been hit twice in such a manner.

And the fritos jalapeno dip is definately the shiznit. I will dip chips, nachos, pretzels or even plain crackers in that stuff. Mmmm good

Pretty insightful post.

Think you actually reached anyone with it? Your approach on the subject matter was spot on.

Re: Street RACING!!!!

It's all fine and dandy until it hits close to home.

Your mom, your sister, a family friend. Death on the highway just because some ahole wants to prove a point in his 14 second speed machine.

Silly...

if you dont like it dont do it, also dont post in the forum for it either. make us all happy, go cry to your mommy when something upsets you, not us. DO NOT come and cry on a internet site. thats sad. if you wanna take it off the street how about in your area you go tallk to your local track owner and ask if they will open another day of the week if you get enough vested intrest. coming to a site and posting like that is pointless, worthless and a waste of bandwidth.

Re: Street RACING!!!!

I agree that for your's and everyone's safety racing belongs on the track. But a little stop light drag race when conditions are safe (no traffic ahead) is not going to hurt. I think that most important thing any person who likes to race can have is respect for the driver next to you and the others around you. If it's not a safe place and time to drag, don't do it!

With that beeing said, I love to stop light drag!! In any drag I allways look at the situation and decide wether it is "safe" for myself and others.

The thing I really like, be it from a import or domestic car that I race, is a thumbs up or nice car comment at the next light. Respect win or loose.

But most people who are not racing do NOT go 100+ MPH on public roads. You can't say that about street racers. If someone on the street gets into a car accident doing 35-45 mph they will have to fix thier car, maybe patch up a few bumps and bruises and move on with thier lives. If a street racer doing 120 loses control and hits another car then thier car is making a trip to the junkyard and they are most likely headed to the morgue. And unfortunately he may very well take someone else with him.

This isn't retarded. Street racing, wreckless driving and drunk driving is retarded.
