I agree. But read alot of the kill story sections of any automotive forum (including this one). It's very common to read threads about races that start at 65 and go to 140

Now that's scary. I don't even want to think of what might happen if you get a flat tire or hit a deer at 140 mph.

basically i was getting at responsibility. i do see your point, and smoking weed was a bad analgoly, but doing anything that can potentially endanger the public is always a matter of responsibility. we trust a airline pilot isnt drunk, etc.

people raced horses in the streets and ran over people, trampling them to death. every generation/century has something like this. 100 years from now, people will be racing their microsoft guided jet cars.

What about ford fiesta's? There has to be some kind of GM vs Ford rivalry.

Re: Street RACING!!!!

Some of you guys are real dicks.

Street racing happens. End of topic.

And I can say, first hand, of the street races I have ever been in, the only ones that ever made me nervous, were the ones against 15-18 second rice cars ...

They are the ones who are 2F2F ...

Seems like the guys with the actually fast cars know it, respect it, and are about 100X less likely to weave in between cars in traffic, fly through residential areas, illegally passing, **** like that.

And the 15-18 second ricers seem to be more likely the ones to not slow down even when you have destroyed them, and are clearly hard on your brakes, just to tell their buddy/girlfriend in the other seat that they still won. Nothing I like more than someone giving me a flyby, to try to grow the ***** back that I tore off of him.

Street racing is illegal and dangerous no matter how hard some of you try to glorify/justify it. That is the real "end of topic".

I agree with that. But the big difference is that I'm not calling people dicks because they chose not to partake in illegal and dangerous activities. He did.

It's like prostitution. It'll always be around but it'll always be dangerous and not worth the risk. In the case of prostitutes it's not worth the risk of a disease, being robbed or being busted (and having your name in the paper). In the case of street racing it's not worth the risk of injury, death, loss of license, loss of vehicle or the worst possible scenario (IMO) of killing an innocent bystander.

I don't think I would do well with that on my conscience. I just want people to be safe. The track offers medical staff, safety regulations and a guarantee that you won't get busted by the cops. One street racing death is one too many IMO.

I also- sooooo agree with this post ^^^- i dont build cars just to race at the track.
