Well bud- it's my life you risk (or any other innocent person who might be at the wrong place at the wrong time) when you street race. So don't act like it's only you at risk. BS. You're not only risking your life but the lives of anyone who is watching the race, in traffic with you, walking along the sidewalk, ect. But lemme guess, your another one of those "safe street racers" who is all concerned for the publics well being.

Here is where I tell you that this is a public forum and as such every registered user has a right to express his/her opinion within the rules and guidlines of camaroz28.com.

And if wanting you to be safe and unharmed makes me stuck up then I guess I'm proud to be stuck up.

I can believe that. I used to live in Illinois where you rarely saw anyone wear a helmet on a motorcycle. Here in NY I am yet to see one who isn't wearing one. I like the helmet law here. Why risk your life? I think all states should have and enforce helmet laws. I don't mind wearing mine at the track so I don't see the big deal with wearing one on the street.

Re: Street RACING!!!!

Because choosing to not where a helmet is only going to hurt the rider, and no one else. Here in Pa, it is not required to where a helmet on a bike, and I see plenty of people that don't wear them. I would personally where one whenever I ride, but I don't see why it is a law. We have to wear seatbelts here in Pa, and I have a great irritation with the state being able to issue a citation for not wearing one. Again, I always wear mine where ever I may go, but using it should be at the discretion fo the automobile operator.

I agree with you saying that street racing is dangerous and wrong because it can put other people's lives in danger. However, I can't see a parallel drawn between street racing and not wearing a helmet. There is no danger to anyone else when you choose to wear the helmet, and the only people that may feel it beside the rider is the insurance companies.

I agree with you 100%. This is truly a case where you are only putting yourself at risk. Helmets are to protect you from serious or fatal head injuries. Just about everyone has a mother, father, brother, sister, wife, girlfriend, best friend, ect that would miss them if they were gone. If I had a bike, I would wear a helmet for them if not for myself. Besides, they make some helmets these days that look cool as hell

Lol- I'll tell you my oppinion about the bystanding public- I really dont care much about them!.. If they wanna stand and watch they can..

Also- street racing in my town is a bit different than in most larger cities..- we dont actually have all the people lined op along the street and what not.. they mostly sit in the parkinglots on the side's of 6th street and stand on the sidwalks..- and its not like lots of streetracing.. just a few cars here and there, but i mean we still are movin a good clip.. Also- most of the time it is from about a 20mph roll when we race, for some reason people call the police when they hear screeching tires..

I suppose i shoulda mentioned that before.. -but none the less- street racing is still street racing..

It comes down to parents not making their children wear seatbelts (there are alot of stupid parents out there) and when they get in an accident the parent is liable because most of the time the child isnt old enough to rationalize and the most susceptible to injuries. Same with motorcycle passengers, i see alot of people on the back of the bikes but here we have seatbelt and helmet laws.

No but that guy is a f'in jackass. There was a site listed on a web page directing you to pics of the girl afterwards. She had a ****load of scrapes all over her upperbody cuz she didnt have leathers on but that helmet saved her life. Can you imagine literally eating asphault at 50-60mph or however fast they were going. Hell it would hurt like abitch at 10mph.

Yes, but ultimately it should still be the drivers/riders decision to wear a seatbelt/helmet. Like I said, there aren't many situations I wouldn't be wearing one, but I don't like having someone tell me it is the law, when the only direct victim would be myself.

You are right about the helmets though. They do make some of them that look cool as hell.

This isn't the fast and the furious. I'm not picturing a street race with 200 people watching on the sides and Vin Diesel saying "Hector holds the money". Point is if your willing to street race at a pre-determined place and time then you are highly likely to accept some bozos challenge on a public highway on your way to dinner, school, work or wherever.

That would be illegal, dangerous and in some cases deadly.
