Lt1 vs Ls1 Race...
The AVERAGE LS1 was between 13.4-13.6 with a good driver. The AVERAGE LS1 with a Lid that I have seen/heard of ran a 13.3-13.4. Add 190k miles to that and a marginal driver and you've got about a 13.6 at best. His LT1 easily has enough for 12's. And not 12.9... more like 12.7-12.8. Sounds about right to me.
Then again, from the LS-World... it takes an LT1 - Headers, ORY, Catback, Gears, Stall, Tune, CAI just to be able to keep up with a bone stock LS1. And that's if the LT1 gets lucky, right?
What's with you LS guys? I hear this all the time but never see it? LS owners don't talk any smack around my area. There are more LT1's than there are LS1 around here.

in the c4 corvette the lt1 was 300hp vs the ls1 c5 345hp. difference: 45 hp
in the fbodies, which had more restrictive exhaust and intakes on both the ls1 and lt1 (compared the vette) the difference was generally 30-40 hp. ls1 in fbodies were never faster or more powerful than ls1 vettes.
and yeah, i know all about all the (then) new stock 2002 m6 ls1 claims of "over 300 rwhp" at the wheels etc etc...and for every one of those there is also comparable healthy stock m6 lt1 putting out 270-280 at the wheels.
the average new lt1 was between 250-260 at the wheels (depending on dyno, transmission, and atmospheric conditions), and the average ls1 was between 270 and 290 based on the same variables.
nevermind all the dyno claims, the track numbers speak for themselves. most lt1's were low 14's to high 13's at 99-102, while most stock ls1's were mid to low 13's at 102-105
those times point to 30-40hp advantage in the fbody ls motor.
@ you LT1 guys thinking just because you have a couple of mods and DR's you can keep up with a stock LS1, and this isn't even a stock LS1 we're talking about
I remember when my Z was completely stock and my friend with a 97 SS, full exhaust, stall, lid, would talk **** to me on a daily basis about how his car would destroy me. Well we raced from a dig and he immediately pulled two cars on me, but he got reeled in very fast, by the time i hit 120mph he was atleast 5-6 cars behind
Well what i'm getting at is, if you have a planned race you would think someone could get it on video, this wasn't a random highway encounter it was planned. Even the most generic cell phones have video capability today.
why does it matter? who ever said a vid of a race posted on an internet forum was a mandatory requirement as proof of the win? point is, you win some, you lose some. ls owners need to understand no one can be king forever - especially at 200k miles vs a healthier car with mods to bridge the hp gap and take the win.
i have a car with an ls motor too, and honestly, i fail to see what the big brouhaha is over the slightly less powerful lt1. it can be modded very easily to run on par and ahead of ls vehicles.

You are right, gm is so retarded for coming out with the LS1 since it's pretty much equal to the LT1, what were they thinking??
I call bs on the story unless a video shows up, and that's why I asked for the video, proof is your best friend. More than likely the op got walked.

wow, this just keeps getting better and better. no one ever said the ls1 is not the better and more powerful motor, what we are saying is with mods and a healthier lt1 with much less miles it's not hard to see why it won.
i cannot believe the level of denial by ls drivers in this thread. heads out of the sand people. it's true when they say denial is the first step to recovery.

2 points from your long post.
Dubious creds hahahahahahhahahahahhaahhahahahh
When I was racing our stock 98 Camaro I beat every stock LT1 I raced by way more than 2-3 cars. Now before you burn up your keyboard typing some scathing reply. This was my actual experience at my actual track not internet keyboard racing.

Okay guys here are the results first race i pulled about 4 cars from the hole and held it to the end of the race. I lost some traction and but still managed to walk it out. Then he got upset and said he needed tires so he borrowed his friends slicks and i put on my worn nitto drag radials. This time my lt1 shinned i open the cutout did a nice burnout and stalled the bitch it was a true murder. i had 5-6 cars on him and about 7 or more in the 1/4. Honestly i was suprised that it wasnt closer, i guess that ls1 is tired and needs a rebuild. But it was fun and i won. You should have seen his face he couldnt belive how my car ripped. I am going to the track this weekend and hopping to get a 12 second slip. What do you guys Think? Thanks
Good kill...
As I said, the 190K valve-train was the key... and as predicted, they just didn't have the goods... Assuming the rings are still holdin' and cylinder pressure is where it needs to be; let him yank the heads, slap a competent 3 or 5 angle valve job on it and it'll wake it up again; be a good time to toss the mannies and bolt up some LTs...
You guys should have a blast together; nothing better than a competitive grudge buddy. Keeps everyone moddin' and that's what it's all about.
Two years from now you'll both probably be in the low 10s... tryin' to figure our where you're gonna find the stratch to be the first one to bolt up the blower or those turbos.
Wow you guys are really taking this to the end, with all the mods in my sig on a worn set of drag radials today i went a 12.83 at 107 with a 1.98 60 ft. I dont think it is to bad for what i have + a fiberglass cowl hood for a little weight savings. today. Were gonna do it again this weekend and i will get videos for you guys. This time i am gonna make a easy 50 since he wants to run me again cause he thinks lt1 are junk.
