my car stock trapped 95. 14.7@95 was the best i could get out of it in the FL heat.

this ought to make u you guys happy. today i got a call from an old friend. he asked if i raced a orange GTO. haha, ends up being one of his friends. anyway the guy wants to run me again ( i think i want to run him even more) so the race is set up for sunday. he does NOT want to run me from a dig. so i will agree to that only if i can run him on motor then spray to see the diff.
so there you go. i will be running a stock 06 GTO from a 20 roll. hopefully i can talk to him into a 20-130 roll.
another thing, i wont run him unless he agrees for it to be on tape. sounds petty but i hate it when someone call BS on me.

 

yeah he pulled me pretty good. my car is a dog from 75-100 and we started right at 70-75.
it didnt help that he wouldnt have an even race though. we lined up he hit, and i didnt downshift till he was already a car out on me. oh well. i wouldve faired a lil better if it were from a 60. atleast i got to run a badass car.

 

When you tape it, make sure you get a idle sound clip too so everyone doesnt accuse you of having more mods then you do or something? And take the bottle OUT and show it out on camera. Otherwise the haters will chime in ...

 

haha, no cam here. and the 150 shot is only an 80-90 to the tires. so honestly on the bottle i am probably just a lil more RWHP then a GTO.

My very next race was also against a c6, but it was from a 85 mph highway punch and I didn't spray (before h/c)....you can guess what happened.

 

Late last year when I when I ran 13.5@105 with my bolt-ons, I was all excited to see a '06 GTO there. I was dissapointed to see him only run a 13.8@106. Probably wasn't the best driver, as indicated from only getting 13.8 out of a 106 trap speed. A full bolt-on LT1 is easily a match for a 6-speed LS1 GTO, and if the '06 GTO doesn't have a good driver, a full bolt-on LT1 has an o.k. chance there too. I do like the GTO, but I was hoping for a little more from the LS2 with that car.

I've seen a lot of 105's-106's (usually a4) from the LS2 gto, but I've also seen some 109's-110's.....which isn't bad for a 3700 lbs car.

 

out of curiousity.. what does these things run at the track? ive heard 13.1s?

 

Low 13's is about average. I've seen bad drivers get 14's and good drivers get 12.8's.

 

I always find it hilarious when the GTO guys get so mad and defensive when they get beat by an old LT1.

Yeah, the the LS motors stock to stock with an LT1 motor will hand the LT1 its loosing slip.

I just like beating the newer and more expensive cars like the Vett's and the GTO's with my LT1. Having that said, you will notice in my sig that I have done quite a bit to ensure a win over them though. For the LS cars, it would take much less to have the same power as my Z.

Most of the GTO's I have seen at the track run mid to high 13's. I've seen a couple modded ones crank out consistant 14.0's! I have heard of other slightly modded ones going high 12's. I'm sure like anything the driver has a lot to do with it. For the most part, I think the bone stock GTO's run on average in the mid 13's though.

 

I don't know if you were referring to me, but I certainly don't get mad when a GTO loses. I've owned 4 LT1 cars and know exactly what they can and can't do. I get mad at mis-information, which is all over this thread....even in your post. Anything that can trap between 106-110 is not a mid 13 sec. car. It might have a mid 13 second driver though. There's a definite distinction there.

You've been pretty lucky so far because some of the fastest GTOs in the country are in Florida. Good luck when you move there.
