i find it funny how this happened. was out shopping for my kids birthday with the GF and while we were walking into the store i spotted a black LS2 GTO. i was staring at it, talkingto myself how that was the first one i seen in town etc, etc. well we get done shopping and heading home now. as i am about to pull into our road i see a car coming up fast, looked like a GTP. but just incase i go straight. well sure enough it was a 06 GTO, but orange. not the same car. damn.

so i take a right onto a 4 lane road get in the outside lane and he pulls up next to me in the right. i point forward, he drops a gear. we are going about 20 and i floor it. ( damn it only drops to 2nd. i worked on the car last week and somehow messed up the throttle cable and it dont notice when i am WOT. really sucks.)
so from 20 to 60 he puts me a lil off his rear bumper. but i started in 2nd when i shouldve been in 1st.
so we pull up to a light now and i ask if he will go froma stop. sure, he says. so light turns green and i bust his *** 2 cars up to 45. he pulls up a lil pissed off. " what the **** do u have in there?" i say "LT1", he says "BS, your tires didnt even squeel". " yeah i have slicks on the car".

so we run one more time and i let him get a lil jump at the light and pull him through first still and then let out cuz the next light was red already.


This happened a few hours ago. since then i have figured out what was wrong. fixed it. and hopefully i will find him again and get some better runs in.

 

I assume you were spraying?

I dont think he was if his tranny wasnt running right, he had slicks on to so that helps a lot...

 

If he ran these times N/A, and got a good run, we wouldn't need to be. Especially if the races weren't taken past second gear and into third where the LSx motors really shine.

 

on motor 3/4 throttle. sound better?
i fixed the throttle cable now, it was about an inch from WOT. i couldnt have sprayed if i wanted to, due to having a WOT switch and throttle arm not hitting it.
i think up to 80 it would be a close race, then he would pull me pretty good. hopefully i will see him out soon, as i am moving in 2 weeks.
ill run him N/A then spray him and will do my best to get it on vid.

 

Off-topic but how did you fix your throttle cable issue? I'm having a similar problem with mine where it is only opening about 2/3-3/4 throttle and has some slack in the cable.

and seems the guys that think i was spraying or it was impossible to beleive i could beat him on motor havent posted since i said 3/4 throttle.
well i just got back from the track. hahahaaa, i cant beleive u guys. lucky i was not running my car today or i wouldve embarrased one on motor. the same as last night from the roll, he wouldve never pulled. wouldve been opposite. sorry guys

ill let u all know THERE ISNT ONE. in the same weather i run a half sec faster and trap 2 mph more then his best pass which was 100.41 trap.

yes on motor i would beat him or most GTO's 04/06 doesnt matter if they are stock or close to it.

 

Nice kill, and I like that you stand up for the LT1's. I get so sick and tired of everyone with an LS* motor flame any guy with an Lt1 that said he beat and LS*. We're all on the same boat as far as I'm concerned, and LT vs. LS threads end up with more sh*t talking then a Ford vs. GM or domestic vs import thread.

 

when i get back to FL i am sure i will be able to find a few that will run me. i will post vids like always. there just isnt many up here.
no doubt the LT1's are slower then then LS cars, but damn when there modded right they can move.
