Please post in the correct forum. This belongs in "Suspension......", not in "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech".

Moving.....

Just get which ever one you find the best deal on or a inexpensive used one. Wheather or not they make a diff at all is debatable but 3 point are definately worthless on 4th gens.

The 3rd point goes to the structurally weak cowl...so whats the point?

Naw, STBs can be quite useful. Its a nice place to hang your microfiber towl after you dry your car.

A fairly useless mod... but eye candy isn't as bad as some of the mods that have come down the pike that actually hurt performance. The worst I got suckered into was the MAF mod that did nothing other than mess up your block learn's and potentially throw a code.

i'm with injuneer...but i wont use a 3-point brace because i've seen cracked windshields (guy didnt have subframes) at the track

it's not just eyecandy...it stops body roll in the front and is a really good place to lift the front end when you want to take the motor out the bottom.

any way, i've got one that matches the color of my car...my friend has his stripped and dipped (chrome) to match his car (teal with everything either chromed or polished) and i my other friend (sold it...so sad ) had a yellow one on his TA. we all have BMR style STB's...got mine off ebay.

Re: Does it matter what brand strut tower brace I go with?

it wouldn't stop body roll (hopefully you've got a swaybar for that )... it would stop deflection of the shock towers (towards or away from eachother) during hard corning. The problem is that there's not a whole lot of flex in our frames in the first place, and what flex there is may be difficult to dampen out with a 2 point brace. I suppose I should take an indicator and set up an experiment to see if it really makes a difference. Jack the car on one side with stb installed and not installed and measure the amount of movement of one st relative to the other.

Seems to me that if the cowl is structurally weak, connecting it to an STB might help reduce cowl shake (generally more of a problem on convertibles).
