Tried it just now, no joy. Everything was loading fine when I got to work this morning, but sometime after that, they went away and I started getting all those 400 responses.

As a side note, looking at that net tab dump, there are a lot of redundant requests that could be pruned down to improve performance. Using sprites in place of lots of individual icons and doing some kind of CSS/JS rollup would probably help things a lot here.

That said, there does seem to be a more fundamental problem here. We didn't have sprites or rollups before, but at the same time we didn't have 30+ second page loads either...

EDIT: Clearing cookies fixed the image issue. That's extremely interesting...

Just did some speed tests here and got consistent 2-3sec page loads which is abnormally quick even for the office PC.

Let me know if there is a difference felt these next couple days or if we should go back to our cave and tune it some more.
Point of reference.

At about 6am EST this morning, I logged onto another bulletin board site. Loaded in about a second, using IE w/ Windows 7 HE and Comcast high speed. Then clicked on CZ28.com and it took about 6 seconds.

Came to this forum. Each screen was staying blank for at least 3 seconds. Never had that problem in the past. After looking over this thread, then going to another forum, I then clicked the "forum jump", selected LT1 Based Engine Tech forum, and it went nowhere. All other forums will "jump" without clicking the "go" button. Waited 15 seconds, nothing happened. Clicked the "go" button..... NOTHING HAPPENED after 15 seconds. Clicked "go" again, it did nothing for 6 seconds, then moved to the LT1 forum. Time for LT1 tech forum to show up - 36 seconds.

Same here. Just trying to go to another page with half the time result in a timeout error.

Patience everyone. I believe it is fair to say we are all frustrated and we are also accustomed to the outstanding efforts made by Jason and Chris over the years.

I have faith the issues will be ironed out and I personally remain hopeful that the performance and reliability that helped make CamaroZ28.com an outstanding forum message board (aside from our fantastic members) will soon return.

I too have been frustrated by slow load times and timeouts. However I also have worked in IT for over 25 years and know that patience and constructive feedback can be very helpful. All I ask is we give the situation a bit more time.

That's exactly why I've been sending them debug screenshots.

I'm pretty sure this is the new "fast". Its what happens when you go from a dedicated server to sharing one with 34859102345854 other sites.

That is great news but you are probably right.

This morning the site seems fine. Not "fast", but fine...

And now I am editing my post because when I clicked "post" I waited...

Given the earlier comment describing 3 second load times as "abnormally quick," I'm pretty sure you're right about this.

It took me 24 seconds to load the lounge, just now. I'm using Firefox 4 on a ~100Mbps fiber connection at work. Perhaps an improvement over last week, but not remotely close to the standard we were accustomed to pre-switchover. Two seconds would have been typical.

Using Firebug, I noticed that the site is loading several resources twice -- for example, the page references a file called urchin.js both from google-analytics.com and ssl.google-analytics.com. The SSL one loaded in ~50ms, but the non-SSL one never loaded at all.

Other resources loaded twice:
show_ads.js
show_ads_impl.js
osd.js
__utm.gif (loaded three times, two SSL and one non-SSL)

All of those appear to be related to Google Analytics.

I don't know if this is the problem, but it's certainly worth investigating.
