No one can determine that for you. It's subjective...something you have to find out.

Not speaking about the synthetics, but the best waxes will not be found in pepboys or any of the popular retailing outfits. I am not necessarily flaming mothers or meguiars, as they will produce decent results and are user friendly products.

What I am saying, however, is that you will see a significant difference between common waxes such as mothers, as opposed to a premium wax such as p21s or pinnacle, given that your paint surface is prepped well. You may find that a good combination of products, regardless of price, can work well for you if you do some research, and experiment.

Re: Carnuba or Synthetic

I have always been happy with meguiars. i know i could get better results with a better product...but i am too lazy, and by the time i wash/wax the car, i dont have time to order some. Since the car is in the garage, and gonna sit for a few months...i am going to do a little more research, and get some better stuff. I will probally try zaino next because of what everyone says about it.

As far as Carnuba or Synthetic (meguiars only), i prefer the Carnuba. I just finished the whole job...the car looks good. But the Carnuba hazed over quicker, and buffed up a little easier. The synthetic felt oily at first. However, after some good elbow grease..i managed to get a really good finish out of it.

now, all that said and done...the paint is excellent. I spend the whole week prepping for the wax. I have cleaned, clay bared, cleaned again, 3 step polish, and now wax. It is smooth as glass, and not one swirl mark! My only complaint is that i would like some more depth to the wax, and something that give a more realistic 'wet' look. (deeper shine)

If you are looking for more depth, then you could try a couple of things. First, you may want to research some different polishing products such as Menzerna or Sonus. Meguiars has a very large range of polishes beyond the three step product that could also do wonders in creating a deep and streak free surface.

Second, if its carnauba wax that you prefer as an lsp, research some very good brands. Meguiars wax is good, but you will get much more range from very good waxes such as P21S, maybe Natty's, Pinnacle, and Zymol. Zymol is very expensive, but IMO their quality of finish is excellent. I'd try not to spend a lot of money (wish I'd follow my own recommendations), because you can find very good results from ideally matched combinations, like I stated earlier.

IIRC, NXT is a cleaner wax so really, layering won't do much. It'll just take off the layer put on before it (correct me if I'm wrong somebody).

Right now, I'm using Meguiars Gold Class paste wax, and am pretty happy with how it goes on and off. It lasts for a decent amount of time and provides a good enough shine.
I have to say though...Zaino is the one that goes on the easiest and comes off the easiest. It also has great protection qualities. My only disappointment was how it never masked anything since my cars' finishes aren't perfect. One of these days, I may go back to them. I still use them for their leather products and clay bars though.
But yea, like anybody else said, if you want the absolute best, it won't be found in a store. Right now, I'm poor enough and also lazy enough that it doesn't bother me that I'm not getting the best. I'm not going to any car shows or anything like that and I've got plenty of other stuff on my plate that it isn't very important to me.

I used Meguires Gold class for years, then moved to NXT. They both last less than a few days, weeks if I am lucky in this rainy Florida weather. Finally used Zaino, worth every fricken penny. Durability is rediculous, makes over the counter waxes look like a joke. Shine is on par or maybe better than NXT. Its more labor to use, but you use it half as often.
