Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

The consensus on Mifbody is the oil pump drive failed. I haven't torn into it yet, just drained the oil. Thankfully there's no gold sheen. Only saw a few gold flakes from what I'd assume is bearing material. Probably put 20,000 miles worth of wear and tear on the engine. I was really thinking it was just the sensor failed and not that it had lost pressure.

Edit:
Yup - that's what it was.

Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

I doubt I'll have it fixed that quickly, unfortunately. I guess the material the comp cams cc503 gear is made out of is stronger than the stock oil drive gear so I have to have a gear made specifically for meshing with the cc503? Never heard of that before but that's what Shon Herron is saying. Yikes!

Bronze distributor drive gears are sold by Summit, Comp Cams and Jegs.

Yikes. Hopefully those two miles with no oil pressure didn't burn up the bearings...

Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

LoriAnn & Mike: you are 15! It will be good to see you both there. I shot a message to Lynn Bunker, but he hasn't responded. If you two talk to them, put pressure on them to be there.

We are going to get full soon...we have around 20 spots but there are a few on the fence.

Just hope the weather holds out!

Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

Hopefully the weather will be good. It's been pretty rainy the entire last month or so. The whole time: rain rain rain.

On the plus side of things, I'm at 1400 miles with the new SS. Almost out of it's factory-prescribed break-in period.

...still haven't put the engine back in the T/A. Argh!
I might just have to lick 'em and stick 'em.

Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

It is touch to say for now...but the weather is calling for rainy. That is so far out, it can chance and probably will.

Wednesday will be the day that the decision will be made.
  1. If we still go ahead and do it, everyone who claimed a space will receive a private message with full information on that day.
  2. If we decided that the chance of rain is too great, I will post here in this thread with rain date info, and how I plan to shoot for that.

Re: Putting together a "Motor City Detail Day"

POSTPONED

Sorry everyone, but I need to postpone this for the rain date of May 21. The forecast is calling for 60% chance of rain on Saturday and I think that is just too great of chance to make any hard work we do to be wiped out.

If the weather magically changes to sunny and clear in the next 24 hours, I will retract this but I don't expect that to happen.

So, as it stands, I will keep an eye on the weather for the 21st, and one week from today, I will make the same decision.

NOTE: If you are unable to make the 21st rain date (should it actually happen) and you claimed a space, just post here and I will make a note of

If next weekend is also no good for weather, I will reschedule for sometime later in the summer...late July or August. I will start a new thread for it.

Damn this weather!

One last thing...
If anyone is still looking for something to do this Saturday, please see this thread:
http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/s...tuna-aka.-Tuna

Mike "Tuna" Fortuna (Camaro guy, wrench turner, friend to everyone, father of four) has stage IV Medullary Carcinoma and a fund raiser is being held for him. I will be there for a bit. He is one of the nicest guys in the world and I hope to see you there.
