What i said was corect, i just didn't know the exact speed for each year. there is a fuel cut off on all cars at certain speeds. and if you ask madwolf when you hit for example 160 it will cut fuel momentarily and then add it back not allowing you to excede 160.
Well, effectivly, my 95 does not due to the fact that it's not possible for me to hit 255 mph
I think you guys miss understood "cut fuel" and though it ment your car dies leaving you with no PS or brakes. It only cuts the fuel for how long you tell it to. in most cases including stock, it is set to resume fuel flow at the same speed as the fuel cut off.
I also believe it cuts it via injectors, and it may not cut ALL cylinders, but a couple of them.
Nope, I understand it entirely. A couple of the injectors quit firing, thus causing the car to effectivley miss, not allowing you to increase RPM or speed in some cases.

last time i checked ur car was a 94, mines a 97 w/ a 155 speedo, then a gap (approximate size 5mph) then the little thing that sticks up and stops the needle.

i hit the thing that stickes up,, 155 +5 = 160mph, then i accelerated a little more rpms.

my buddy has a 97 A4 and he took his "rev/rpm/speed" limiter off with the HPP+ and he had 2.72 gears at the time and had a corvette with a digital spedo say he did 172 mph before backing off.

I did the same thing with 150 + gap + ~200 rpms (where the red starts) and I have a 95Z A4 and when I hit this so called "limiter" and it felt like I was hitting a rev limiter...same as if I were to leave it in 2nd gear and wind it out. same thing just different words more or less

About the 40psi pressure at 500 who knows, maybe why there is a hole in my block, It never really climbed much above that on the gas, and I probably had 5w30 in it at that point, ran like a champ though.

Sorry bout the 150speedo, didnt realize you had 97.

In my '95 (with Z-rated tires and the 150mph speedo) I downloaded the base flash with LT1_Edit and the speed limiter was at 155mph. I never drove it that fast prior to reprogramming though, so I can't say how it would have behaved.

I bought the car new, so I know the PCM program was stock.

Hmm,
Rich... if you don't mind, could you please PM me your VIN # so I can take a look at the calibration? I've never heard of a 155 limiter... maybe it's a really old cal#.

Gear chart or GPS. After you hit 150.. you are just guessing without either of them.

Everybody's been saying cars without Z-rated tires are limited to 113, 114, or 118, but mine hits only 105 on the speedometer before the fuel cutoff makes the whole car kick and buck violently. No it's the not ignition problems if thats what you're thinking. Did GM engineers just arbitralily program fuel cutoff speeds, or is there a logic to all these different speeds in different cars? Mine is a 94 Trans Am by the way.

Wolfie: the VIN is 2G1FP32P2S2213835.

I tried to find my original flash. It's not in the computer though. When I first started using LT1_Edit I didn't have a laptop and was lugging a desktop out to the garage. The oldest file I found was dated 4/21/01 and it has the limiter set at 255mph.

Maybe my memory is going and you are correct? Well, I am getting old

Hey madwolf is there a difference between a top speed limiter and an rpm limiter? I believe in my manual that the speed of the car isn't limited because of the engine it is because of the drive train. Correct me if I'm wrong

Both automatics and manuals have rev AND speed limiters.
