Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine
Re: Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine
Mine has been getting progressively worse over the last couple months. First i thought it was the belt making the noise, then it got louder and i knew it wasn't that. Now it makes the noise when i've cruising at 30 mph. really starting to scare me. I don't want to be driving then have my engine fall apart. Mine is way worse then what is in the sound clip. This is loud enough that people next to me on the road can hear it.

Found out what it is. It's none of that, it's my exhaust. I couldn't move it by hand so i didn't suspect that for a while, but now i pushed on it with my foot and when i push it away from the frame, it stops rattling. I'm really releaved it's nothing internally with the engine.

So how come you could only hear it from the passenger side and when the car was warm? where exactly was it hitting? I gotta try to fix it.
Re: Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine
It's not exactly the cat. It's the y-pipe and it's the portion that goes behind the rack and pinion from the drivers side. That's what's hitting on mine. If i take a screw driver and pry it away from the front of the car it'll stop.

That sounds very similar to mine but mine is louder and more rapid. Plus when I pry the y-pipe away from the front of the car, the noise gets weaker or quiter and somewhat goes away. I'll check it out and see.
