Re: Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine

A few months back, my car was feeling sluggish and made a ticking noise that was coming from the passenger side. I suspected exhaust leak, I just couldn't figure it out. Finally I found it. Turned out the hose going from the throttle body to the valve cover on the passenger side had a dry-rot crack where it attached to the valve cover on the bottom of the hose so I couldn't see it. I replaced the hose and have not heard the noise since and have enjoyed the power I got back.

My sounds kinda like roatating chain noise. HArd to pin point, althought I do know my injectors are making a ticking noise which could be the noise but I guess there is no way to find out since I cant really unplug the injectors.

That's the exact one, except mine looked similar to that on the other end.

Looks like the breather hose from the valve cover to the TB.

Ok, I replaced it with a garden hose while the original one gets here. Hope the noise gets fixed, I'll post as soon as I know.

Does it sound louder from underneath the car? If so=bad news. Check your oil & oil filter inside for bits of metal. You could have spun a bearing and/or threw a rod. Does the idle seem rough and the power isn't that good?

Mine gets louder from underneath the car. It's only on the passenger side too. You can hear it on the drivers but it's way louder on the pass. And it started doing this right before i replaced the oil filter and there was nothing in the oil. I'll check to see if my hose is also broken.

I havent checked since I changed the hose, but I never checked under the car, I remember it definitely sounded louder if you would place your ear in the passenger's side wheel well. I don't notice power loss though. Oh and no rough Idle, in fact the car is very steady.

Ok, after the hose replacement, the noise is still there.
I took a video of it, I hope you can appreciate the sound I mean. Click Here. 7.34MB

can anyone d/l it and tell me what do you think, plz? I know most mechanics here dont know crap and if I take it to them without instructions, they'll make a mess.

Re: Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine

Mine is also louder by the passenger side wheel well. I also remember it starting to happen when the dealer just replaced the transmission. (I hate dealers). I was talking with a couple other people and my dad and they said it all sounds like a metal to metal hit. But there's nothing on the outside of the engine that would be banging. It also only does this once I've driven it for a while. I can let it sit and idle for the longest time and it doesn't do squat. We let it idle for about 30 minutes and nothing happened. But when I drove it around the block for 10 minutes it started right up. What in the world is this and does anyone have a direct answer?

you and I have the same problem. I dont wanna start blindly replacing pieces without knowing what's going on. Surely someone has had this problem and fixed it.

Re: Ticking/Knocking noise from passenger side of engine

doesn't sound to bad by the vid clip. I'd just leave it be. If it gets worse then I'd worry about it. Probably just valvetrain noise.

My engine makes more noise then that, but of course my connecting rod bearing didn't like the nitrous abuse,
