Think I Found My Pinging Problem!!!!!!!!!
Found some articles on the net and this one convinces me what my problem is. http://www.sethirdgen.org/egr.htm
I have a 93 Z28 where the air pump is intergrated with the egr.
I removed the air pump and blocked the back of the passenger side head. I have pinging under load and the article states this is b/c of the EGR not cooling the temp while the ECM is advancing timing b/c it thinks the EGR is cooling the manifold temp.
I have headers from SLP and blocked off the fittings for the air pump egr hose. Any suggestions on how to put the pump back on? Or do I send my chip to PCMforless and have them configure the system with no airpump?
Also, if the computer is advancing timing b/c the EGR is supposed to cool the intake would this be better for performance?
