TDC qustion

TDC qustion

Ok my actual hub shifted. i dont know how but it did. im wondering once the intake valve closes how much more do i have to turn the crank for #1 piston to be TDC?

The hub can shift because its not keyed to the crank. You can't really rely on it to locate TDC. A "whistler" in the plug hole, or a non-metallic probe in the plug hole wiil give you a better indication of TDC than rotating it "x" degrees after the intake valve closes. Alternatively, get it close to TDC, drop a valve on the top of the piston, and put a dial indicator on the valve stem.

whats a whistler? is the spark plug directly on top of the piston or is it on the side of it? if i stick a straw in the plug hole will i see it rise out or move when the piston comes up?
