Is my timing gear upside down?! HELP!
Is my timing gear upside down?! HELP!
Hi guys...
Summary: I'm finishing a cam install, adjusting valves stage.... timing cover is OFF....
With the dots LINED UP, my car is NOT at #1 TDC! With the dots LINED UP on my stock timing set w/ a HOTCAM, I am at #6 TDC, NOT #1 TDC! #1 TDC occurs with both dots facing straight up (i.e. where it should be #6 TDC).
WTF is going on?!.... I cannot possibly see how I could do this wrong. I lined up the dots, pulled out the cam, put in the new cam, lined the dots back up (did not move crank).
HELP! I'm so confused. I adjusted the valves, but I haven't a clue why mine don't line up right.

THANKYOU THANKYOU! So why is this differentiated from a Gen1 SBC? Isn't lined-up usually #1 TDC?
What about on an aftermarket timing set?
Thanks,
Michael
