Re: stroker kit advice
94 lt1 .30 over 6.0 rods 3.75 stroke compression around 11.5-12to1 area 7500-8000 rpm max looking for 700hp on motor an shooting a 250 shot on top of it.my heads an intake r going 2 advance inductions get n the 200cc head job done street/strip intake job.cam im not sure on yet.ive got a 4000stall turbo 400 w/trans brake in the car already ford 9inch spool 4.11 gears.i want a 10 flat street car on motor. im at 11.70 with a 125 shot with a lil weight reduction an alot of other changes .
Re: stroker kit advice
You need to rework your thought process a whole hell of a lot.
IMO Advanced Induction is the company to work with when you have lofty goals but IMO your goals are pipe dreams more than goals.
Then it is laughable that with a goal like this you want to use chinese rotating assembly and GM casting heads and intake. 10.0 on motor with nitrous gearing/converter is going to present another challenge.
I would honestly say spend at least another year researching things before you buy anything.

Re: stroker kit advice
So you're going to build a solid roller 383 that turns 8 grand making 950 hp on 200cc LT1 heads and a stock intake manifold and you are considering a chinese crank kit? Does that about sum it up? Have you really thought any of this out?

Re: stroker kit advice
Fred, does it matter?
700flywheel NA on a motor built to handle 250shot with stock casting heads and intake is a stretch anyway.
To actually make a reasonable attempt at this he needs to be looking at aftermarket heads, single plane intake would be a good idea, the solid roller valvetrain for the street is going to cost nearly what he is looking to spend on the heads and rotating assembly combined. The cost to step up to an American crank will be a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the build.
By the time he is done with actually adding up what it will take to pull this together(car included) I bet he chokes on the price because IMO $20K would be enough to get started but NOT finish this project. I never attempted to even do a full engine build but IMO $25K wont finish this project.

Re: stroker kit advice
I'm just trying to see how far out of touch with reality he is. If he's serious, he should be looking at a setup similar to N2ODave's SB2.2 head monster. I'm sure Dave would be glad to fill him in on the ultimate cost.
Interesting thing is the build seems to have started in 2005, and never seems to have actually been totally completed, although maybe Dave just never came back to the site.

Re: stroker kit advice
Dave Norquest "N20Dave" 9.98 @ 137 1.47 60' naturally aspirated, manual trans 396 SB2.2headed LT1 SR 28x10.5W's 3730lb raceweight.
Here is a quote from the owner.
Secondly, let me just express a word of caution to those of you thinking of doing this. Most of the front of the car had to re-configured to make this work. We spent alomost $20,000 on this motor. Nothing will go as planned and everything is custom. Not trying to discourage anyone from trying this. I'm just saying if I knew then what I know now I would have thought twice about it.
A friend own the red '67 Chevelle featured in I believe it was the January HotRod magazine. I bring it up because it is 730hp 402ci gen 1 motor that turns 8500 and goes 9.9 in a 3700lbs car, so it is in the ballpark of what you are asking about and still 23degree. I don't think he has even totaled up the complete cost but we I know enough about it to say $20K wont built that engine much less the car.
Annual maintenance on something like that in the form of springs and rebuilding the custom made shaft mounts and tool steel lifters is probably $1500+. It would not need that kind of maintenance if it were a track car but he genuinely does drive it on the street.
Re: stroker kit advice
i didnt say i wanted a chinese stroker kit thats why im asking u guys that have already done it so i know im buying a good kit.an further more i am aware this **** isnt cheap an i dont think theyre pipe dreams cause i have seen on this site quite a few cars running mid 10's with similar set ups hyd rollers yet to boot.i am running 11.73 at 118 with a stock headed lt1 with110,000 miles on it now.check out my garage see my list of mods .if u want i can send u video's to prove the car runs that.
Re: stroker kit advice
Start by finding the other 0.5s that your current setup is missing.
Skip the stroker, put new rods and slugs in it, add a good fuel system, and strap on a D1SC with a cam to match. It will be a whole lot cheaper in the end than N/A with dope. As a bonus it wont suck to drive (well as close as an A3 can get to not sucking).
It does not take anywhere near 700hp to run 10.0, you just have to know how to make the car work and it can't be a pig.

Re: stroker kit advice
I think when you started off referencing the Scat/Eagle brands, then you're implying "Chinese stroker" parts. Best of luck to you on your quest to get those numbers N/A. Anything that can pull those numbers N/A will need quite a bit of maintenance and frequent inspections I would believe. The cash infusion that the guys are mentioning are staggering enough to me. I thought my turbo build was high but it's pocket change compared to those prices.
