Somethings Turning ON/OFF????

ok, ever since i gutted my cats and put my exhaust on, when my car is running, somthing electric in the engine compartment sounds like its turning on and off every few seconds. its not the air pump, i know what that sounds like, and its not the fans either. those were my only two guesses.

anybody want to chime in here????

I have the same issue. It's the A/C clutch turning on and off.
It's driving me nuts lately, i think it is not normal.
Actually i scanned it with Datamaster, the "ac request" is on, but the "a/c clutch relay" is turn on and off every few seconds. WTF?

Are you positive its not the fans? I know mine are very loud when they come on. If it is only happing at around 240 degrees and then goes away, its probably the fan. The fans turn off around 160-180 degrees I believe. I know when just sitting a traffic light, they sometimes turn on and off.

ok, the car will be on, and ill here a click, then a kind of buzz for aproximately 4-5 seconds, then it just stops. about 4-5 seconds later it starts that same cycle over again.

somthing else that might help, it sounds like its coming from the driver side engine compartment, possibly in the same vicinity as the air pump.

help

If the defrost is on the AC compressor also turns on and off, and I believe if you have the little picture of the guy sitting with the arrow towards his face and legs the AC compressor also kicks on, try turning off the controls completly and see if you still here the noise.

i dont use the AC/Defr. at all because there is a problem with it not related to this.

i have used the heat but thats all. happens with the heat on or off.

Ever since I bought my car, my alternator clicks on and runs harder for about 4-5 seconds then shuts off. See if it's your alternator making that noise. I dont think it's anything harmful cause mines been doing it for about 2 years (when i bought the car), and it still works great. take care,

I'm a late poster here but I just thought it was hilarious that this guy thinks the alternator clicks on and off. LOL!!!
