Red Intake Manifold?
They possibly had it powdercoated. That would attest to the good looks. I have seen people who did home painting though that looks darn good. Either way it helps draw nice attention to the engine bay.

the dude that had it probably put a grand sport tb plate on there so people would think, oh its an LT4. Sounds like whoever had the car new a little something about these cars to try to make it looke like an LT4

Laid it on thick, wet-sanded the hell out of it, polished, and waxed. I'm quite proud of myself.....
I used those new 3-phase DuPont chameleon paint kits that are out now. It's violet/green metallic.

Here's a pic of an actual LT4:

Probably the best way to tell if you've got the LT4 conversion is to get it dynoed. If it's an LT4 conversion with the hotcam (and proper ECM tuning) it'll put down around 330RWHP on stock exhaust manifolds. Even if for some reason the previous owner just did LT4 intake & heads, and left everything else stock, it'll still be pretty obvious as it'll put down around 270-280RWHP.

It is identical to that picture of the LT4. the car has some other noticable things done to it. i got nosey and started unbolting things. It has edlebrock headers. and i took the driver side valve cover off and it has silver 1.5 roller rockers. but they dont have a name on them from what i could see. There are also guide plates for them. I dont know if the guidplates are factory or not. It has a K&N FIPK intake on it. " i asked the guy at the speed shop what it was" and my fuel injectors are Yellow. not the black normal looking ones in my friends 96 Z. hopefully i can get it dynoed soon and see what the dilly is. Also the plug wires are red with red heat shield wrapping on them.
Is there really that much of a difference between 1.5 and 1.6 rr's? And... my car may very well have a cam. side by side next to other Z's it definatly sounds different... Hard to explain.. other peoples Z's idle sounds smooth and kinda quiet.. Mine sounds like someone is reving it up and down 2-300 rpms but it stays idling at 800. And its much louder then most other Z's i have heard.
That could be the description of a cam. As to the 1.5RRs, no there isn't a huge difference. Also, did you check them all, or just look at one. Some people like to use 1.6RRs on the exhaust side and 1.5RRs on the intake. Or the other way around, I can't ever remember, and I don't remember the reasoning either, but it did somewhat make sense when I read it.

LT4 heads are stamped "LT4" right on the top of the cylinder head. On the C4, the stamp is visible through the oil fill cap. It probably isn't visible with the F-body cap (has that little extension, right?).
You said you removed the valve cover, so it would have been obvious as you were inspecting the valvetrain. So it sounds like they are probably LT1 heads.
