OK, Im here to back 86T/AWS6 up...and I hear about that 13.76 everyday from him bc it was bone stock and I was pissed. At the time I had shortie headers, a flowmaster and a CAI and ran a 13.9 @ 102, cant beat him with my slushbox and 2.73s. He really knows how to drive that M6...

I drag race my car a lot now (not bracket, for fun) and one thing I don't worry about braking is the t56. I've heard of lots of auto's going out on this board, some people have been through 2, 3 or more! I don't hear nearly as much about t56's breaking. The only problem I ever had with my t56 was the input shaft seal leaking at 50k, caused my stock disc to slip. I don't mind having to replace a clutch if that goes, at least it's something I can do myself, not too many people know how to rebuild their auto when it goes and they can cost big $$$ to have fixed. I wouldn't arque that auto's are more consistent at the track and are much better for bracket racing, I don't bracket race though so trying to hit .500 each time isn't that important to me.
well.. I'm going to throw my 2cents in here...
I personally ran a 13.76 @ 102.28 with only a cutout, which is only going to drop maybe .1 off, .2 @ best... so even without that it's still a 13 second stock car...
On to the tranny issue...
99.9% of the time it's a personal preference, application issue.
Personally, I like manual control of my tranny's.... I DID NOT say manual tranny... I said manual control...
My favorite tranny to drive with (I've only driven a friends car who has one) is a Lenco Street Tranny... that was awesome to drive; especially with the "Lightning Rods", although a little strange at first.
My 2nd favorite is my M6,
and last, but defenetly not the hated, is the Manual-Automatic.
Although Automatics do have their place as well, my daily "beater" is an auto and it's just fine with me, heck daily cars I don't mind the auto, but for a performance vehicle... gotta be manual control.

for what you pay for a McCloud Street twin- you can have a STOUT A4/A3
Guys, lets not start stuff and make me have to close this because some people will get some good info out of this topic.
If you don't like the topic then don't click on it and definitely don't reply with something if you aren't going to contribute to the thread. Thanks!

Ive spend $900...
T-56 is stronger, but i undoubtable would have broken my rear by now, needed a street twin, U joints and a slew of other things...
not to mention I am moving faster than you with a stall and all else equal

Out of the 230+ passes I've made on my T-56, the only transmission parts I've torn up are the blocker rings...I've done that twice. Both times it decided to get stuck in 4th gear. But I got the car home both times, without a tow. Whats all this "must have a street twin" talk about? I dont have one. My ghetto resurfaced $89 clutch disc and 7 year old used pressure plate work well.
I purchased the 6 speed back in '94. They were very hard to get at that time as GM underestimated the demand for them. The 6 speed came with a 3.42 rear end ratio, great for performance. After 9 years of abuse and one blown motor, not one problem with the tranny, although I haven't run the car with race tires yet...
If my car was a daily driver, I would probably elect to get an auto though. The traffic around here in southern cal is getting worse every day, with hour long traffic backups a regular occurrence. It wears out your foot after awhile.
Has anyone ever gotton a foot cramp while driving a manual, it happened to me the other day, very scary, almost had to pull over!
