I have a 2002 SS, with automatic trans. I was driving about 40 mph and it suddenly seemed like the trans just went into neutral. No noises, no banging or any indication that anything was wrong. I coasted to a stop and had nothing, no forward or reverse gears. I popped the hood and checked the fluid. Nice and red, not burnt at all and full. I did notice that the trans dip stick came out of the channel (it is a locking dip stick too) and hit the inside of the hood where there is fiberglass. It hit so hard that it put a divot in the fiberglass and there was fiberglass dust on the dipstick. Does anyone have any advice for me as to what the problem could be? The car is all stock with about 45,000 miles on it.

Will it at least go in reverse? If not you probably have no line pressure...shelled pump?
