That all depends on the driver , a stick shift will outrun an automatic with all the same setups , plain and simple . so as long as you can drive it good . I have a friend who has an auto with 3:23's and i can whoop him everytime , mine is stock gears and engine with 2 times the milage . Not to mention the difference in gas milage . I owned a auto and a 6 speed LT1 and my 6 speed whoops it all over the fricking place . Thats the reason I dont have the auto anymore . How can it be slower but funner ? Dont make since ! thats just one mans expeireince though

I really like the M6, but the A4 is a better quarter miler if it has a converter. Otherwise I do agree with you that a stock well driven M6 will beat a stock A4.

these arguments come up way to much.. it is a personal preferance and it also depends on waht you are biuldin goyur car for.
Strip-auto
road race-manual
street-depends on if you like bein gin control or havein gth ecar do it for you
Look in my sig.. I had a auto and now a manual. I love the manual, I wouldn't go back, it just isn't as much fun as banging through the gears

6 speed hands down all the way, and i think all these 13.xx times with stock cars is B.S. cause never in my life at my track, with my car, my friends T/A, or the rest of are lil f-body group has anyone broken 14's on a stock LT1 Fbody. Maybe if you live in alaska and race on freshly laid tarmack ill buy it but down here in florida at our tracks with our weahter i dont buy it.

Your kidding ? aslaska ? My car ran a 14.2 stock with street tires and a sliipng clutch , it will run a 13.8 on a decent day when its not like 95 degree's , on street tires, stock gears and 170K on the odameter . And i have seen lS1's , run 13.3 - 12.9. sorry bout your weather probs , but yeah it happensdown here . Although on the hot and hunid days in the summer " round 90 " they can quickly become sub14 second cars . And another one of my frineds has a bone stock LT1 that will consitantly run a 14.00 all day long B.S , I think not come down to Ky ill show ya

how about these numbers?

97 Trans Am 6spd 3.42 0-60 5.3 1/4 mile 13.7@102
255 RWHP 285 RWTQ

97 Trans Am auto 3.23 0-60 5.5 1/4 mile 14.0@99
235 RWHP 270 RWTQ

stock for stock the 6 is usually .2-.3 tenths quicker in the 1/4,from a roll, and any type of highway acceleration, but with a looser converter, shift kit,and equal gearing the auto will 60ft alot better, and edge it by a few tenths, but will still get handed on the highway and is still cant compare to the feeling of hitting a clean 2-3 shift and hearing the tires bark

Keyword LS1, and thers no way a stock LS1 will run 12s without mods or HEAVY weight reduction.

oh by the way im not calling you guys liars or anything but ill believe that a bone stock LT1 Fbody run 13's when I see it. By the way all the LT1' s around here are pushing over 60K miles, i suppose that could be a factor for the times , how many miles where on ur cars when you guys ran those times ?

AENIMA95z28: i could get the hint that you dont believe i turned a 13.76 on a dead stock car with a paper filter...give me somewhere to post the timeslips i have a 13.76 and a 13.78 that i ran dead stock, also you could ask "94_Camaro_LT-1" on this board, he is a good friend with a 383 LT1 that has seen teh slips...and that was on BFG radial t/a's, not drag radials, the regular radial street tires...believe what you guys want, i kno what my car did and have the slips to prove it

EDIT!: your talkin about 60K+ cars??? i had 79K on the clock on a original stock motor when i turned that 13.76@101.5

I Love the feeling of a clean 2-3 shift its GREAT!!!!

But it is a bit tough for me to break them loose going to third, and I suspect my aging and weak stock clutch has something to do with that, it's up for replacement at the end of the summer.

OK, Im here to back 86T/AWS6 up...and I hear about that 13.76 everyday from him bc it was bone stock and I was pissed. At the time I had shortie headers, a flowmaster and a CAI and ran a 13.9 @ 102, cant beat him with my slushbox and 2.73s. He really knows how to drive that M6...
