I guess I will go to the TR55's with the Delco wires. Maybe simple is better in this case?

Do it, you won't be sorry. I did the same setup a few weeks ago. Once you see how much fun it is to change the wires you'll be happier than a fat kid on a slippy slide that you didn't go with something bigger than the stock size (if you run them the same way as stock and use the stock looms). Anything larger wouldn't fit in the looms from what I can tell.

I think some of the guys on here have done the over-the-valve-cover routing using a kit you can buy when running thicker wires...but I'll leave the specifics to those who have done it.

They look sharp on the car, but I am not sure I want to go that in depth right now. I know it's not hard, but it requires more $$$, something I would rather put into a high flow water pump and timing set.

I ran Taylor 8mm Spiro-Pros, and they fit in all the factory clips, spacers, etc. But I didn't like the wires, so eventually I went back to the factory Packards. Currently have the 8.5mm MSD's, but I don't even use the Opti for anything but the optical sensor, so its sort of apples and oranges. The 8.5's are harder to fit in the stock routing, and may take a little Dremel work on the bracket that guides the wires around the passenger/front of the engine.

You can drill out the 2 piece plug wire clamps for bigger wires. Securely hold the clamp closed with a vise when drilling or they will break.

Gotcha, alright, so I'm going to prolly go with:

8.5mm MSD Wires
NGK plugs TR55 gapped at 50.

Sound like a good setup?

Have fun routing the MSD 8.5's. They are a pain in the *** and they dont fit the stock guide plate behind the power steering pump. I replaced my MSD's with Taylor 8mm Spiro-Pros 2 weeks ago and am very happy I did. The boots snap in better and they are lower profile compared to the fat msd boots that make it a bitch to route.

You should only gap the TR55's to 0.050" if they are the platinum or iridium plugs. Copper plugs will burn up faster and open the gap up faster. Consider 0.035" - 0.040" for the non-Plat/Irid plugs

I am currently running the Taylor 8.5s with OTVC wire looms purchased from Summit. Since I had to make my own wires, I decided to take the extra couple of hours and do it right this time around, it really paid off! I ended up going with the NGK TR55's and to be perfectly honest I have not seen a difference between those and the Bosch platnums. I have heard that anything above 1 electorde is a waste of money...however I THINK I heard something about there being some kind of tech advantage in the center electrode?

Lol, thanks injuneer. I'll do that, then.

Yeah, I have a dremel though, so I don't mind routing them that way. But I guess while I am at it, I might as well ask. If I DO DECIDE to go with an over the valve cover routing, is there a kit you would recommend?
