Clogged screen is a distinct possibility on a new build.

If you've replaced your oil pump with a Melling since Jan 2004 or are planning on replacing it, better read this first... NOT good!

I've ran across several boards that are talking about this.

it is a OEM oil pump, bought at the local GM parts store (scoggin dickey).

as far as I can tell it is the bone stock oil pump.

The screen makes me think, I still havent pulled the oil pan, the high has been like 38 degrees every day since I had time. I did put gasket maker over everything for the first time ever to get rid of an oil leak w/ my oil pan, so I am hoping this is a more likely problem. The screen wasnt clogged however when I put it in a little over 15 miles ago. I have never seen anything more than dust particles of metal in the oil, so I dont think it is something very serious. The oil pressure just NEEDS to be fixed and I really would hate to spend 350$ and not fix it.

so any problems w/ having that oil pump, stock pan, no windage tray. I have an OEM windage tray I could install to help oil flow (if it would?) but any more advice is appreciated.

As much as you've spent, you'll be doing yourself a favor by going to the Canton pan/pickup. It will provide plenty of oil and will absolutely cure the oil pressure issue at WOT.
