New Best... but is it good?

i went to the track on friday... the last day that it would be open for the year. well apparently my z liked the freezing cold weather because i walked away with a new best... and i was very suprised to say the least...

best run: 13.36@104.8 w/ a 2.05 60ft!!!!

i think thats damn good considering how stock i still am. stock motor, stock suspension, stock converter, stock muffler, and on street tires.... i can finally say that my car is running real good. my old best was a 13.54@103.8... so let me know what you think... am i running good?

cold weather

sounds great to me!
That seems to be about right for a auto with 3.73's and long tubes. Get a stall and you could see 12's in good weather.
A 97 formula A4 in town is running 12.70's with a shift kit, stall, 3.73's, CAI, hooker LT's. He also cuts 1.6 60 ft times (BFG drag radials).

does anyone think its possible for me to hit 12's in good weather with a cutout and dropping the serpentine belt... in theory it should work if i can hook. both dropping the belt and a cutout are supposed to net you .1-.2 each. so with both do you think its a possibility for me to hit 12's?

uncapping that exhaust wil be a big gain. If you runing 13.3 going through stock muffer, you may pick up .2-.3 But it depends on track, and weather conditions.

That's almost identical to my previous best with bolt ons only. 13.5X @103.7- it was about 89* out when I made that run. I had K&N intake, SLP headers, flowmaster catback and a meziere waterpump. What a diference to cooler weather makes! It's gonna be pretty hard to get into the 12s with just little dinky crap like pulling off the belt. A cutout is a good idea, but I've always just stayed away from dropping the belt. If I can't do it on the street I don't want to bother. Plus it seems like it would be a hassle. How about a cutout and some roller rockers?

i got a buddy of mine who may hook me up with some lt4 rr's for cheap in the future... but until then im going for the cheapest way to get to the 12's... plus im trying to stay as stock as i can. when i ran my 13.3 i had the belt on. i actually did try taking it off that night and all i did was spin. there was a decent power gain, and i wasnt used to it. but i agree with running at the track how i run on the street, which is why i keep my heavy *** system in my car too. its not worth the hassle... i was just trying to figure out if i COULD hit 12's with the addition of a cutout and the dropping of the belt.

You need to borrow somebody's sticky tires (ET streets) and get your 60' times down. A 1.7 60' would get you into the 12's!

Screw ET streets at your power level..... I put them on when I had just bolt ons and my top end sucked horribly. I wasn't even trapping 100mph, I think it was about 98 A set of BFG drag radials will hook very nicely for you, and won't kill top end like the ET streets will.

a cut out and nittos should get you in the 12's!! That is possible with a good launch!! You can get off the line with nittos!
My car had hooker lt's, off road y-pipe, cut out and a cold air intake, and ran a 13.23 at 104.8 mph. on street tires, bone stock motor, tranny, and gears,3:23's!
You can hit 12's with those mod's!! But I say put a cam in her and port the heads, More fuel, more spark, build the tranny, then enjoy tring to break down the wall to run 11's , that is where I am at know!
Steve
p.s. I have never heard of pumping up et streets??? nitto's will do you best for your mods though!

No, the problem here is weight, also rolling resistance is a problem depending on how much/little air you have in the tires. Trust me, get some drag radials...... You'll be surprised at how well BFGs hook. Nitto's may also but I don't have any firsthand experience with them.

When my car was a "bolt-on" only car...With exhaust manifolds, and NO engine mods, I went 12.82 on ET Streets...Through a Flowmaster.

My car was (and still is) full weight.

I'll admit to having 4.10 gears, and a 3200 stall, though.

Put a set of ET Streets on it, and get your 60's down, you'll see 12's.

My tire tests went through BFG drag radials, Nitto drag radials, and ET Streets. The car went the best 60 ft., ET, and MPH on the ET Streets. Drag radials were a giant waste of money. The best I could 60 with any of them was a 1.90. Without any other changes, except a set of ET Streets, I dropped to a 1.73.

With the new head/cam combo last year, I tried a cut-out for the first time. I went from a 12.25 to a 12.05 by just opening the exhaust.
