Question MAF question

If the MAF sensor is not reading right will that affect the idle at all?

Sure can, especially at lower frequencies (airflow) such as that at idle. It has especially been a problem with CAI's. The oil used on the filter tends to coat the MAF wires, desensitizing them. It's not a bad idea to remove the MAF and carefully clean the elements on it with non-residue electronics cleaner.... be careful with 'em though

Of course there are many other things that can affect idle

Thanks. I am getting a code for it. I did clean it but it did not help. I am still getting a choppy idle and I believe thats the culprit.

As with all suspected bad sensors, make sure to inspect the wiring thoroughly. If you've got another f-body/'Vette enthusiast around try swapping MAF's. If it gets real bad you can simply unplug the MAF and the car will default to speed density mode.

I unplugged it and the coolant fans went on when I started the car and it idled pretty rough.
