Lt4km

Can you get these at autozone or O'reilly's someone told me you could just look up something like, 95 Corvette ZR-1 because they came stock with LT4's. I was curious if that's where you can get them. I believe with my setup I need one.

Re: Lt4km

Its a delaer item. The best price will be from the online GM part sources that are mentioned frequently on these forums. Shoebox has a link to GM parts sources on his Tech Pages.

http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech1.html

You will need the part #. That is also in the parts # list on Shoebox's page.

I called the guy on shoebox's website and the price sounded a little high, but not nearly as high as my local dealership wanted. You can go that route or get it from gmpartsdirect.com. they were cheaper on the part and shipping i think, plus you get a tracking number. they were pretty quick about it too. good luck.

How do you descreen the MAF sensor? What kind of gains did you see?

Depends on the year of your car - why not add a "signature" with basic info, so people will be able to give you accurate answers ? Ealry years have a thin spring ring that pries out and allows the screen to fall out. Later years the screen is "fixed" and has to be broken to be removed. There's no gains related with it, and some people will experience a rougher idle or even a small fuel mileage loss.

If you got a better deal out of gmpartsdirect, you've got to be one of very few with that experience.... their shipping is generally ridiculous.

See the grins and winks in the guys signature about the descreened MAF. It means it's a joke.

I realized the descreening of the MAF was a joke, just curious how it was done and if any reason to do it.

The belief is that it slow air flow. Its right up on top there with carving a hole in your front bumper and installing one of those ram air scoops.

Don't bother.
