Hello, 96',97' Firebird engine I'm hoping. Just bought this car and that's what they said the swap they thru in the shop towel on was. Any way to tell 96' from 97' engines? I had read the post about CPS not keeping the engine from running. I still have no Spark!!? I won't give up . I have a Fluke auto meter. The org . Computer and wire harness in my 1994' Z-28 body doesn't have a CPS wire anyway. Please help. Thanks

96/97 engines are virtually identical. The model year of the body it was originally installed in is stamped in the back of the block:

The CKP sensor was added in 1996 solely used to detect misfires, as required in OBD-2. The engine will run fine without it being connected.
Have you scanned your 1994 PCM for codes? “No spark” can be the result of no low resolution data from the cam position module in the Opti, a faulty ICM, a faulty coil, or faulty wiring of the interconnecting circuits:
