Exclamation Ignition Relay - Fact or Fiction?

I thought I read a post on here several months ago about whether or not there was an actual ignition relay on these cars. I'm NOT talking about the fuse in the fuse panel. The post said something about a relay on the passenger side under the dash or kick panel? I have been searching for a couple hours trying to find the post again and didn't have any luck.

Do these cars have some sort of ignition relay under the dash? Possibly on the passenger side? Any clarification would help...

I think there's an ignition key relay. Not sure if that's what you mean.

There are several relays. One for the VATS which monitors your ingintion key and one that sends voltage to the starter. Your engine will not turn over if either of these is bad. Sorry I don't remember the exact location of these. But its NOT the one in the driver's side kick panel, that for the fuel pump. The starter relay will have a big purple wire coming out of it.

There is the theft deterrent relay (called starter enable on a 1993) that is to the right of the glovebox. It is between the ignition switch and the starter and is enabled by the VATS.

Could any of these....VATS, theft deterrent relay, or ignition switch.....send the power to the starter to start, but not send the correct signal to the opti to fire? My car is cranking, but wont start and I'm wondering if any of these parts could be at fault?

Thread originator is looking for a relay, and Shoebox gave him the answer in post #4 Is that your problem too?

Or is this because something is preventing the engine from cranking? As in the problem discussed in post #5?

Oh.... wait, you asked for help in this post, and I offered a lot of info, tried to help you, but you never followed up on my questions:

Interesting - he signed off immediately after the above post and never signed in again.
