How can i pick up .2 ?
Well, yea...if you were cutting into safety for only 4 pounds; that IS dumb. Rear roughly 17 pounds, front roughly 25 pounds.
OK...now, while their may be safety issues at hand, please take that into consideration, removal of bumper supports is an effective way to cut your ET. I think that sums it up for what we are both trying to say.
There's plenty of safety issues involved that are simply overlooked when it comes to building a fast car. Any car that can cut low 12s or better at the track could be seen as a safety hazard itself on the street. NOS sittin' on the rear deck of your car could very well be a safety hazard. Any modification you do to your car can potentially be a safety hazard, as can changing your oil, brakes etc etc.

And...anyone ever left your bottle heater on over the course of a weekend? It's a simple, easy thing to do on accident. I know I saw pics of a car that did that...lost his car and garage I think.

Back to the starter of the thread.............
Back to the guy who needs .2. I definatley think that it is worth changing out the cai. Punching holes in your stock one may help(or not) but i think it would be beneficial for you to get a K&N FIPK. Hey if it works better (which it should) then theres your 2 tenths right there for only 180 bucks to your door!!!!!!!!!
CAI, longtubes, and some traction and your set. EASY 12's.

I agree with the CAI; that's the FIRST mod you do.
And, you don't need the LTs for 12s, so unless you got the $$$ to spare, put it elsewhere for now, like DRs and perhaps a gear. When you do heads/cam etc, LTs will be necessary and you'll be spending good money anyways, what's a few hundred more then?

I think you guys are right. It would make sense that my car could be starving for air. Im going to get a cold air induction. Slp makes a chrome CAI right? Does anyone know how much more it is than the black one? thanks

FWIW:
I ran 14.592 with all my equipment in the car.
I took the 75 pound speaker box out.
I put an SLP CAI on.
I ran 14.299 next time at the track. In actually warmer weather than the 14.592 (it was COLD that first time).
So, the CAI will ALMOST CERTAINLY help you.
You can get them used for as little as $100.
OR if you really want to save a few bucks, go get some PVC from Lowes, some flexible rubber hose, a few clamps and a nice big cone filter and whala.. A complete home-made CAI for ~$60 including the filter.
And you can always pull the back seats, and the front passenger seat out while at the track to save on that weight.

What do 400, 600 and 800 horsepower Supras all have in common? 14 second timeslips.

My friends 95 Supra TT with 400rwhp runs 12.8 @ 117mph
I don't know how much the SLP chrome is new. All CAIs will basically give the same to minimally-different results. The LPE is only like $159 and I like its look.
I don't plan on chroming the engine, so the chrome SLP kind of looks outta place under the hood of my 160K mile car. I'd like to replace it with a nice dull black to compliment the rest of the bay, lol.
[edit] EEK! This is post #666 for me!

And, another quick easy gain that I mentioned before, and you can use that same 13mm socket, removal of the belt for each pass. Takes a minute to remove and put back. Run it, pull it in, put it on and let it idle for a minute or so just to keep the alternator happy.
The SLP CAP isn't chrome. It is slighly shiny black though. The chrome looking SLP CAIs were a special deal from GM dealerships or something.
