depending on the order i say this in you guys are gonna be pissed and call me a ricer or say ya it makes sense.... i'm just gonna say it this way

american pushrod engines (gm or ford) just arent gonna get as many miles as an sohc or dohc toyota or honda motor...... deal with it

sure you guys posting here are all well over 100k, but you look at people that have held on to honda's and yota's..... well over 2000, and with no replaced parts or rebuilds like guys in here

personally i'm not impressed with american build quality although 100k miles outa a car is plenty for me
if you compare recalls and service problems (even ford focus and explorer aside) toyota will rhomp gm, IN THIS SENSE they build better cars

but..... they build grocery getters

btw i'm not a ricer, i dig muscle cars, so i'll get to the good part
OUR CARS ARENT GROCERY GETTERS
low-tech pushrod stump pulling torque monster engines do what we want them to do and do it well, i wont cry if my firebird doesnt make it to 200k miles because its meant to be a fast car and its fast! and i love it!

sorry if i have broken any american built pride bubbles.... i guess i havent depending on how you look at it

Let's just say my car has been more reliable than ALL my buddies japanese cars If you say that american cars don't last as long as japanese cars that is a myth.

115,396 and running hard. I've got a set of heads I'm working, they'll be done shortly when I get the cash for machine work and parts Then I will proceed to unleash the fury on the LS1 ego around here

I think most of us deal with that by blowing by those sohc or dohc toyota and honda motors. The traits you list are what I look for in a lawnmower, not a performance car. High mileage is icing on the cake.

I guess it depends on your definition of a grocery getter. My car gets me to work, gets my wife to work, gets my kid to daycare, gets groceries, and runs 108mph in the quarter now and then.

Not a chance.

Well Ricers!

You can take your Piece of Sh**t and put it where the sun don't shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate Toyota's and Honda's and all the other bullSh**t ricer junk.

When the ricers breaks it costs high dollars to fix.

I know because I sell parts at AutoZone for a living!

I have a '94 z28, purchased new in April, '94. It has numerous bolt-on mods. Recently installed an LT4 hot cam kit and hooker headers. Bottom end still stock and ORIGINAL w/ approx 205,000 miles! I say approx because I changed speedos at 195,000 miles and have approx 10,000 miles on the new one. Still runs strong, no oil leaks or consumption. Oil changed every 3000 miles, using Castrol 10-50. Trans (A4) has been rebuilt, beefed, and has Vig 2800 stall. Long live the LT1!!!

I know its not LT1..but anyone see the post about the guy with the 250,000 mile c5 corvette. Yep..250k. I am sure someone has seen the post and can link us. Its a neat post, it was like 51 oil changes, 2 Sets of brakes or something minimal, and some other things. It might have been posted on corvetteforum.

HEY GUYS!!!! Look at what we talk about every single day on this forum!!....... UPGRADING! RIGHT????? So who wouldnt wanna rebuild their engine anyways??? More compression ..... splayed mains.... forged internals...... CC306!!!! Heads that flow 300 on int. .... I have 113,472 miles on my car.... when them motor goes it goes.... i rebuild it better than it was built to begin with!!! Thats the fun of having these cars. Is making them powerful and working on them ... paying attention to the smallest detail..... I will be sad the day my motor goes .. but the future can only get better for the motor. To me GM Detroit Iron is the only way to fly .. Screw those rice boys..... the way they rev their motor past the rev limiter all the time their motors will burn oout 2wice as fast as ours will!!
