high idle

I just did the tb bypass and i also cleaned my tb while i was at it. after i did this i noticed that my car would drop to about 2000rpm when i would push in the clutch to stop. then when i completely stopped it would drop down to about 1000rpm. i have tried to adjust the idle screw and it didnt do anything. i have also checked all of my vacuum lines and cant seem to find anything wrong.

Sounds like a vacuum leak, and if it happened right after performing the bypass, I would take another look at the vacuum lines near the TB. Good luck.

How did you clean the TB? Did you disassemble the lower plate from the body? Did you remove the IAC motor, and move the pintle at all, or possible get solvent inside the electrical components? Did you pull the TPS sensor off and forget to put the shaft seal back in?

i took the whole thing off and took off the lower half also. i took out the IAC valve out and cleaned only the end of it off. i used a tb cleaner to clean off all of the insides of the tb. i didn't take off the TPS sensor and i made sure not to get any thing inside the plug.

On the IAC valve, there are electronics up at the top of the pintle.... so you have to be careful not to get too much solvent up in there. Its not just the harness plug you have to worry about. Hopefully, you did not try and move the pintle. That will also risk damage.

I didn't try and move the pintle. I just used an ohmmeter and the readings i got from terminals A and B was 53ohm, and from C and D I got 53ohm also. In my repair manual it says that they should be between 40 to 80 ohms. If the TPS got wet could it be causing this? And if so how can you check it?

When you cleaned the throttle body, did you remove the TPS? If not it might be damaged. Throttle body cleaner will do that sensor no good at all.
