Pacesetter LT w/cats - options?

When i install the LTs i want to install a Y-pipe with 2 cats on it, so i can stay legal. What are my setup options? What cats have you guys tested and recommend (cheaper too) - something smaller and for 3" pipes...

What i thought of so far:
- Buy pacesetter y-pipe, cut the branches and put the cats on;
- Have a Y-pipe manufactured with the cats on it;
- Go illegal and have money handy for bribes at all times - not best option imo...

Thanks!

Even with the cats, you are still in violation for the simple fact that you have the cats moved from their stock locations. If you do go ahead and have cats put in, you can have the Pacesetter off-road y-pipe modified. Otherwise, there is not a catted y-pipe on the market specifically for the Pacesetter LT1 long tubes. If you do cat it, you will want a smaller length cat. I am using the Pypes "mini-cats" but I believe they have since been discontinued. I believe there was another member on here though that found mini-cats from another manufacturer on Ebay.

Camaros here are so rare they don't know anything about them, let alone stock cat positions My only concern is tips measurements

I'll have a go at e-bay

BTW, isn't this good? http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powercat.htm

* Pypes Stainless Mini-Cat #PYP-CVM13 T-409 Stainless Steel Housing
* 3' Inside dia., 12' long 7' installed length
* OBDII Compliant Universal Catalytic Converter

Those look good, nice to see they are still available then. The 3" inlet/outlet diameter is what you want for the Pacesetter ORY.

That y-pipe (Random Tech) is geared towards the mid-length headers. Its dimension/sizing would not let it bolt up to the Pacesetter long tubes.

2000GTP did you pass the tests with those cats? are they really doing their job or... ? I do want high flow but if they don't do their job right what's the point in buying them in the first place eh? :P

I don't have to pass a tailpipe test. How they work, I don't know. I am skeptical as to if they can provide a passing result.

Its a free county, why not? I put them in mainly for the visual standpoint in case anyone sticks their head under there. The rotten egg smell of having no cats got old pretty quick too.

Here are some cats that will fit the pacesetter long tube y pipe. I'm using these now on my car. The drivers side is a tight fit and you will have to bend your fuel and brake lines out of the ways for heat purposes. I had the local muffler shop weld two of them in for me. It took them about 30 minutes.

Don't use the Pypes mini cats. The case is not strong enough. The first time you bump your y pipe the ceramic catalyst will break. And they have no warranty for breakage. Ask me how I know? The magnaflows are much higher quality and built to last.

I catted my Pacesetter ORY with 2 Pypes Mini-cats.

come to find out they are only rated for >5.0L engines...blew both of them out within 2 weeks
(only place I could find them online at the time was a mustang site...I might have different ones than other people...)

It will pass visual inspection but it smells like theres no cats at all...I dont get the sniffer for emissions so as long as me PCM isnt throwing codes when they plug it in, I pass emissions (along with possibly slipping the guy a few bills...)

I dont have pics of it but they fit pretty good.

About the drivers side fit. I've inspected that area and it looks like it has enough clearance and room there, but those lines do run pretty close... I was thinking of running heat tape along the length where they will be closer to the exhaust pipes and cat, both on the lines and the exhaust.

Won't the built in heat shield and header heat tape be enough? I wouldn't go and bend them
