It ain't difficult to go just as fast or faster than an LS1. I don't know why everybody thinks it's so damned hard. 280-290whp ain't sh*t to make in a V8.

It amazes me that the LS1 even came up in this conversation. God forbid someone make good points about LT1 performance, and then some assh0le brings up some soda can like the LS1......"Well, the LS1 does this....." Nobody gives a sh*t about the LS1. We're not talking about LS1s, and if we wanted LS1s, we'd have them.

LS1s can kiss my ***, and a lot of them do.

Sounds like good numbers!

I probably should have read all 4 pages, but I have to post as well.

The LT1 is an impressive beast. My 95Z pulled 352rwhp and 381rwtorque w/ the hot cam kit, 2800 stall, LT's, 3.73s, and other minor bolt ons.

I have posted that dyno sheet here before.

THE LT1 is very capable.

I also have a 99 LS1, and I have to say, it rocks. I couldn't imagine what it would be like w/ just a cam! A lid and free mods really woke it up!

IMO 2500 is not an aggressive stall, my 2800 is a baby stall.

ppl have different goals, im glad you are happy with your car.....

me personally, i was disappointed when i dynoed
356rwhp/349rwtq with my setup xe224/230--ported heads-boltons. those numbers were with a stock fuel pump crapping out in the high rpms.

i changed the pump, got some drag radials and ran the times in sig.
i suspect i picked up a little rwhp. i will re dyno this spring.
im hoping for 380rwhp out of it.

jesse
Yes, but if you add 5-6% to the 341HP he made with the auto, that brings it up to 361HP for an M6, not a small difference.

Making the numbers he did, with the stall (granted it's a small stall), is not bad at all. Alot of the Hotcams I see dyno around 325rwhp with stock heads in an M6, so seeing 341 is not so bad with an auto.

Exactly. I'm sick and tired of hearing how "the LT1 is inferior" and "the LT1 takes thousands to make good numbers" and "the LT1 doesn't respond well to mods," etc. The LT1 was also a traditional smallblock motor, and 50 years of engineering can't be wrong.

I've driven plenty of LS1s, and in all honesty, I wasn't impressed by many. A buddy of mine has a s/c'd 98 Trans Am, and that's about the only one I've walked away from impressed.....but who wouldn't walk away from a s/c'd V8 impressed?

My cousin had a 98 Z28, and I ran him when I had no more than a Flowmaster MUFFLER, Moroso CAI, Hypertech Power Programmer, and an Airfoil, and I beat him......by about 1.5 cars. Now, that was without a doubt, THE SLOWEST LS1 I have EVER driven. That pig would have been lucky to run a 14.3 on a good day. Most of the LS1s I ran at that time would either take me by a fender, or I'd have them by a fender. I didn't think my LT1 was fast then, so you know....obviously I didn't think the LS1s were either, and I still don't.

However, I was impressed with the flat torque curve of the LS1, and also its smoothness.......but other than that, it really didn't feel like much of a rocket. The LT1 is much more "violent," and that's the way muscle cars should be.

Yeah when i went and dyno'd my car a lot of people couldn't believe that all i had was a cai and a cutout and i got 274 at the wheels and 310 tq with 99000 on the clock. I just got back from looking at a 01 SS but i can' t seem to give up my lt1. All my friends have ls1's that make unreal power.

I looked at LS1s a while back and wasn't impressed enough with them to spend $26,000. On top of that, I couldn't get over the fugly looks of the front end either.

Idunno.....I guess I just love everything about the LT1 more. I can't imagine parting with my LT1.

I know of some LS1s making some pretty decent numbers, but know of just as many LT1s making just as good of numbers.
